Re: Guests...
I must say that I have enjoyed reading the posts on here since I joined a week ago. I am going on vacation in the caribean and one day last week I decided to check the weather in that area. I punched in tropical weather on google and this site came up. I started reading the posts and saw the there was a system in the Atlantic called invest 94. I followed it until it hit south tx and it was awesome to read the posts on here about the details of the storm. I am now hooked on this site and look forward to sailing over the waters that produced this massive system. Do hope everyone is ok down there. Thanks to all who answered my dumb questions throughout the ordeal. Look forward to the times to come.

We are glad you are enjoying S2K cooter!
BTW - no question is a dumb question here. We all learn from every storm.

Re: Guests...
Hi,
Just joined and contributed a small amount.
My suggestion is to use the paypal possibility to create/become a monthly subscriber and have automatically a small amount like 5$ a month withdrawn from the users/my paypal account.
S2K could make it another status smth like gold supporter or whatever ( It's just an idea
)
I will join! Actually because I get much more information (and faster)from all the weather fanatics here then ANYWHERE else.
Again....... just an idea. It must cost a fortune to have all the server space and bandwidth managed.

It would be ashame if it came a paying site. I try and donate when I can and will do so. But right now things are bad for a lot of people. I think the way it is just fine. If I missed what you said I am sorry

I'll bite! I've posted before but haven't even logged in in a while. I live in Baton Rouge, LA but was born in raised in Beaumont, TX. Needless to say, 2005 was quite the interesting year for me and my family. I was the lucky one being in the middle of Katrina and Rita! I don't know much about the technical dealings with tropical systems but I am learning so much from all of you. I have always been fascinated by hurricanes and any kind of severe weather growing up. I am looking forward to keeping an eye on Edouard.

Welcome welcome! Doesn't matter if you are a pro, a student, live (or have family living) where weather can affect you in the strong way, just interested in weather or want to follow the flow, you are welcome, and your questions and observations are welcome - there's a place for everything and a place for you. C'mon in.

But very few will even post if it a Southeast coast storm. You can look back over the years and when one come our way they don't bother. But the ones who does I thank them for keeping us up dated. I did come on and post then learned to just sit back a read.
What can we add that you don't already get from the NHC et al?

there is a LOT that gets added that isn't from NHC...preliminarly, if that's a word (and I think it isn't). I come to see what is happening hour to hour when something looks threatening to my area because pro's and serious people are often ahead of what comes out on the hours later. Sometimes hours or even a day makes a huge difference with a storm.
Yes, people sometimes don't pay attention to a particular area until a system is very close, but if you make a big enough noise (and I don't post often but yep, I can get noisy!!
), the people who have the info come through with what's needed.
So it's worth joining, even if your few posts onl relate to when something is threatening to you, or for those just interested in weather systems, something is said that you'd like to understand better.
It's a good thing!
