I expected Bertha to do what this one did and expected this one to do what Bertha did. This one isn't on the map yet. It had such good curvature that I refuse to write it off until I see it confirmed. If it did poof, then it was SAL and 97L grabbing the scene.

ITCZ AXIS IS CENTERED ALONG 12N17W 9N24W 12N35W 10N45W 7N58W.
CLUSTERS OF MODERATE/ISOLATED STRONG CONVECTION ARE BETWEEN
11N-15N E OF 20W TO THE AFRICAN COAST. THIS CONVECTIVE ACTIVITY
SEEMS TO BE ASSOCIATED WITH A TROPICAL WAVE CURRENTLY EMERGING
FROM WEST AFRICA. LATEST OBSERVATIONS FROM DAKAR WITH SOUTH
WINDS SUGGEST THAT THE WAVE HAS JUST CROSSED THE AREA. THIS WAVE
WILL BE ADDED TO THE 18Z SFC MAP. IN ADDITION...THE HOVMOLLER
DIAGRAM HAS DEPICTED THE WESTWARD MOVEMENT OF THESE SHOWER/TSTM
ACTIVITY OVER THE PAST COUPLE OF DAYS.

Strong waves right off the coast tend to recurve anyways...

Likely will be late August or early Sept before we get another favorable MJO. Intil then if your looking for development the Gulf or northern Atlantic would be the place to look for it.

MJO actually is thought to have more effect on GoM and West Carribean development. May be more likely to see development out in the Atlantic until another favorable MJO pulse enters the GoM and Atlantic.

MOVING WEST ABOUT 15 KT. ISOLATED MODERATE SHOWERS AND POSSIBLE
THUNDERSTORMS ARE FROM 12N TO 15N BETWEEN AFRICA AND 20W.
THAT PRECIPITATION MAY BE MORE RELATED TO THE ITCZ THAN
TO THE TROPICAL WAVE.

MJO has no bearing on east Atlantic development

it has been stated here many times and peer reviewed literature has also shown as such

we also get bursts of activity in the Atl during the unfavorable phase
