Wizard of Oz

#1 Postby CajunMama » Sun Jul 27, 2008 7:32 pm

One of my and my daughters all time favorites is on TNT if you catch that channel. I never grow tired of it. We have on dvd but it's just not the same as when it's on regular tv. LOL...my daughter knows the entire script and songs! She's lipsyncing the entire movie.

I hate those darn flying monkeys but i do have a toto in real life. Cairn terriers rock!

Edit to add...My daughter even knows the dances!

Yes, it is a classic story. Somehow that forest is scarier than most I have been in. Maybe it is the monkeys!!

I had the good fortune to interview the technical advisor for the film "Twister" while it was being made. I learned a lot about the processes involved in that film, and then his conversation turned to the tornado scenes in The Wizard of Oz. He told me about how they had tried a number of techniques to make the tornado looked real, but ended up using fullers earth and some other advanced "film" techniques to make it look realistic. The storm, when off across the corn field, was a wonderful depiction for the year it was made and the fact that so much had to be done on film. Digital didn't exist.

I still enjoy an occasional "Oz" fix too.

We used to watch every year when I still lived at home, my mom loves it and now our family does the same. Our power was out last night for about 3 and half hours right when it was on so we missed it. :( We had the DVR set to record it and everything, when the power came back on at 11:30 it was still on or being replayed and I was wore out by then and just happy to have A/C again and passed out. LOL.

You right mama its not the same popping in a dvd as it is watching it on regular t.v.
so I was sad we missed it, but you can bet my mom was watching. :P

Okay I had to post these of my twins a few years ago as Dorothy and The Wicked Witch.....I made the Wicked Witch dress. :D

My kids don't like the flying monkeys. Can't blame 'em. I don't like that either.

O town, GREAT costumes.
