Little Blob of convection east of Windwards

#1 Postby Gustywind » Thu Jul 31, 2008 4:23 pm

Since this morning i've noticed this little blob trying to pop hours after hours, surely no circulation because with my untrained eyes i can't see much rotation but maybe activity has flared up nicely and decently....embedded in the ITCZ. Whereas i tkink afterwards that it's the strong activity of the ITCZ as the TWD mentionned it.....So there's nice activity in this area, but nothing more for the moment, let's see what happens :) Any thoughts on this? Comments are welcomed as usual too :D , tkank you very much.

...THE ITCZ...
THE ITCZ AXIS IS CENTERED ALONG 13N17W 16N26W 10N34W 9N46W
11N61W. A CLUSTER OF MODERATE TO STRONG CONVECTION COVERS THE
AREA FROM 7N-11N BETWEEN 51W-54W.
No so bad flare up , the cluster always there, but convection continues to pop without much rotation....nothing serious but as usual let's see watch what will happen during the next few hours.... :)

Tkanks Abajan  :) , very nice weather site on your area :D glad to see it they mentionned it ( blob) yesterday:
WEATHER SUMMARY THURSDAY JULY 31ST, 2008 ATLANTIC
Another perturbation has progressed to near 50°W, south of 12°N. Most of the convection is confined within the I.T.C.Z, south of 10°N and model data show this feature moving into the area of Trinidad late tomorrow.

Hey Abajan Trinidad should experience a nice little bath during the next 6H-12h with all this convection doting in vicinity ... hope that it's a welcomed rain for the citerns :) :P and refresh the carib spirits after the persistent and severe drought everywhere in the Windwards/ Leewards Islands.
http://www.ssd.noaa.gov/goes/east/carb/loop-avn.html
Looking at the loop the shear is impacting a little a bit the blob but convection is popping nicely, numerous little tstorms ahead are occuring now with my untrained eyes... :cheesy: :). Moreover a little area of showers near 19 N 57w can be seen, nothing especially nasty but just looking at.....

Well, I just strongly disagree with the 8:05 TWD that says "STRONG SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS ARE FROM
10N TO 11N BETWEEN 46W AND 48W." I think that's an error and they mean 56-58W. Image
TPW makes this almost look like another wave, plenty of moisture.

Yes, I agree, bvigal. There's hardly any action between 46 & 48.

Gustywind, although Barbados had a pretty bad dry spell earlier this year, June was quite wet and since then we've had good rainfall on and off. Everywhere is lush green right now. Sorry to hear things have been so much drier in other islands.

Ok no problem i'm glad to see that some areas as yours has been green and wet :D , but most of the islanders more norther ( Leewards especially) were talking about a persisting drought In Guadeloupe the beginning of the month was green and wet and after the 15th of July the weather was very dry and yesterday things has changed tremendously, that's good news for us. Cycloneye was experienced a drought too, it's a good thing for him in Puerto Rico. :)

Waouw seems that it's windy in Barbados and St Vincent and Grenadines too...Two correspondants are speaking about the wind in all directions, i check you the latest from these islands: :) from stormcarib. com an interresting weather site
It's raining! http://stormcarib.com/reports/current/barbados.shtml

Well I was supposed to be going to the Emancipation Celebrations this afternoon and to the Finals tonight, but it looks like I will be staying at home with the radio and the TV. Here in St. Thomas we can see the rain coming across the gully and guage when to send the kids out to get the laundry off the line just before a downfall. This morning we didn't have a chance. It really came down hard and fast! The dryer will get a workout today.

It's still raining and it looks like this is an all day affair. OOH! Just heard thunder. The wind kicks up from seemingly all directions just before the downpours, making it a game for the kids to guess which windows to close and which can remain open.

All in all, lovely day to stay indoors.
