Large SAL surge heading towards this system mind you so unless it picks up a little more foward speed its going to catch this system up possibly. Still apart from that it does look in a prime early August spot to develop and does need very careful watching in the next 2 days.

6z analysis by TAFB does not have a wave here. Just a cluster of storms along the ITCZ. It probably won't get a mention in the TWO this morning:

800 AM EDT SAT AUG 2 2008

FOR THE NORTH ATLANTIC...CARIBBEAN SEA AND THE GULF OF MEXICO...

THE AREA OF LOW PRESSURE OVER THE ATLANTIC LOCATED ABOUT ABOUT 1250
MILES EAST OF THE NORTHERN LEEWARD ISLANDS IS MOVING WESTWARD ABOUT
15 TO 20 MPH. SHOWER ACTIVITY HAS INCREASED SINCE YESTERDAY AND
SLOW DEVELOPMENT IS POSSIBLE DURING THE NEXT DAY OR TWO BEFORE THE
SYSTEM ENCOUNTERS UNFAVORABLE UPPER-LEVEL WINDS.

A SMALL AREA OF DISTURBED WEATHER ASSOCIATED WITH A TROPICAL WAVE
HAS DEVELOPED ABOUT 250 MILES SOUTHWEST OF THE CAPE VERDE ISLANDS.
THERE ARE NO SIGNS OF CIRCULATION AT THIS TIME BUT THE ENVIRONMENT
APPEARS TO BE CONDUCIVE FOR A SLOW DEVELOPMENT DURING THE NEXT FEW
DAYS AS THE DISTURBANCE MOVES WESTWARD AT 15 MPH.


ELSEWHERE...TROPICAL CYCLONE FORMATION IS NOT EXPECTED DURING THE
NEXT 48 HOURS.
