whoa lets not get ahead of ourselves. Pressures fall, as they do when a low closes.

no rapid intensification is underway. The definetion of RI is like Dennis, Wilma, and Katrina.

If confirmed, a 1004 mb reading would indicate that it is roughly 9 hours ahead of schedule already--since that is approximately where the NHC was putting it at 1-2 am tonight by my calculations.

Wow...looks like we are seeing pretty explosive deepening at a time where we should be seeing it more hold steady. Ah well this is certainly a TS now

Yeah, me too...especially considering the cone is in the same area that Humberto made himself known in!

Well we can certainly say they have a better idea of what the core of this system looks like after this recon data. Now will this trend continue is the question. Seems like not much is going to hinder the trend of strengthening.

54 kts at SFMR would put him at 55-60mph at the surface right? Dang, this is strengthening quick.

Recon is showing intensification. RI is overused, Rapid Intensification is something that goes from a TS to a Cat 5 (wilma) or a swirl of could that turns into a Cat1 within 24 hours(humberto).

No such thing is or has happened to this yet.

The Recon probably just missed something prevouisly. Its sat presentation is the same.

For people in the cone...better start prepping NOW. This could very easily be worse than what is currently forecasted.

I'd say we'll have a special advisory at 5 pm CDT with a 50 kt storm and a 1003mb pressure.

Your statement is 100% factually incorrect

RI is defined as a pressure fall of 1.75mb/hr

stevetampa33614, this is rapid strengthening in my book, a 5mb drop in pressure in the psace of about 60-90 mins is real impressive IMO, easily as quick as Humberto at the present moment and thats scary to say!
