1964 was probably the most interesting even though it would cause a heck of alot of damage, all 6 hurricanes became major hurricanes, with several going on to become powerful cat-4's. We had 3 systems hit Florida. We had a taster of many different types of systems from your hombrew type to the classic ong tracking Cape Verde storms.

but 1997 also enhanced the Pacific seasons. So Atlantic may of been below average but Eastern Pacific, Central Pacific and Western Pacific were really above average.
especially late in the year the west and Central pacific had a string of 160 kt storms
I think it was Keith, Ivan, Joan and Paka.
Also Linda in Eastern Pacific reached 160 kts in September.
Yes, I know the Pacific was in overdrive in 1997. I believe it is possible that Keith, Ivan, and Joan were more intense than Tip, based on Dvorak readings. They were not measured directly though.

I think for me it would be the 1992 Pacific Hurricane Season. Busiest on record in this basin. 24 named storms, 3 Hurricane landfalls (Lester, Virgil & Winifred). Also for the Central Pacific a weird year as well. Hurricane Ekeka in January, Tropical Storm Hali in March and Hurricane Iniki making landfall in September.

Well that might be an unfair conclusion because there are certainly storms we missed in 1914. It was still almost certainly below average.
Due to the sets of events that occur during a given season that cause the final outcome, there really isn't a season that ISN'T interesting.

Let me see here. It would have to be a few years for me. from 1996 to 1999 we had Bonnie Fran Bertha Dennis Floyd Irene. And then from 2000 to now there was (Ivin?) and Katrina Charlie and Wilma Rita Dean they are not in order. But I have to say I lost my home to Floyd and Fran did a lot of damage. But Katrina took the cake. I didn't go down into N.O. But I was in the heart of the path she took and every thing looked like a bomb had went off. I have been though a lot of hurricanes but that one did the most damage I have every seen.
It is funny We lived in Ft Myers Fla for 20 plus years Mom and Dad lived their for 30+ years. Panama City for 8-9 years and not one hurricane came thought. Then in 96 opal came in Panama city. then Charley in 2005? getting old here. and then Wilma So it looks like it has maded it's rounds.
I think Ivin was the smart like it had eyes. He would be going right to one of the Islands and he would turn on a dime.

1999 was interesting indeed. But I find nothing glorious about Floyd.
2005 will probably be the most interesting season for me forever, it was almost like a movie it was so surreal. 95 was also pretty memorable for me, and like some others have said 2007 was interesting as well (mainly because of Dean and Felix).
that picture of floyd says it all, he was an absolute Beast, thank god he did not hit florida from the east, would have been much worse than wilma, and thankfully it weakened although he still caused damage

Damage is an understatement. He holds alot of flooding related records from North Carolina to New England.
Just goes to show that you don't need a major to cause widespread devestation.
But as he marched toward and into the Bahamas, the satellite image was a sight to behold.

Hurricane Floyd of 1999 is probably in my top 3 best looking category 4 hurricanes.

Actually, 1914 was probably just as interesting as 2005. Seriously, ONE storm? Total? No others? With all other seasons, you knew you were getting at least 2-3 tropical storms, but in 14's case, you had ONE storm the whole season. 05 was record breaking, yes, but same as with 1914. 14 had the latest season start, and the earliest end of any season, the shortest amount of season time (5 days), the lowest number of tropical storms (1), one of only two non-hurricane seasons ever (1907 was the other, five storms, strongest was 65 mph), the lowest ACE rating of any season (2.53), no additional storms from HURDAT (this may be more impressive than 05. With 05, they added a storm. 14 didn't get another storm added, even though 1 storm is suspiciously weird), a strong tropical storm (70 mph), but with a strangely high pressure (1004 mbar). In fact, Storm 1 even resembled Tammy's track from 05.
In terms of interesting, 1914 and 2005 are equal seasons on opposite ends of the same line of tropical activity.
