ATL: Tropical Depression Edouard

Probably RL3AO though it probably would only need a small wrap round of convection near the center of the circulation for it to be organised enough given its small size. Also given the small size that should only help it to strengthen as well.
Everything setting up for one of those classic quick strengthening gulf hurricanes.

Re: ATL: Tropical Storm Edouard - Gulf of Mexico
Someone dig up old sat pics of Wilma.
Because this looks EXATCLY like Wilma did during it's RI.
And this is EI (Extreme Intensification!)
Guys, serious question, if it makes landfall around Galveston as a major, am I to stay?

It will get to the center in approximately 15 minutes, which will be about 75 minutes since it reported the 1002.6 mb reading. Roughly, anything below 1000.7 will confirm rapid intensification, anything below 999.7 explosive intensification.

In Bay City? You'll be fine. I wouldn't evacuate for anything less than a cat 3 unless I actually lived ON the water, or my home floods regularly. Don't buy the media hype.

But I have a 7 month old baby. No power and no water would be bad.

2 things that worry me about the strength forecasts. 1.) This thing dosn't look the best on the Sat., but clearly is getting stronger...So...what happens when it really gets its act together???? 2.) When the northerly shear relaxes, I am wondering if we might see the LLC shift a bit to the South and get under the convection..Won't due much for the track, but it could give some more time over water to get stronger.

My Forcast this early in the game:
You will see better structure by 11PM tonight. A fall of 6mb in 1 1/2 hours is impressive especially the way he looks now.
Rapidly falling pressure + Hardly any windsheer + staying over warm waters for a longer period of time (6 MPH) = Cat 2 at land fall in my books.
Just my guess.

Comparing this to the strongest hurricane on record in the Atlantic is a stretch.
Also, I believe Galveston has a thorough evacuation procedure, so if you need to evacuate, I'm sure they'll let you know ahead of time.

Are you nuts, if you live within 10 miles of the coast, I would definitely evacuate, if you are told to do so.

Yeah, but I live in Bay City, TX. About 80 miles southwest of Galveston.
