There was a buoy report of 45 kt sustained winds, but I can't find the link to the site.

ID was KGSM...

Some people are not impressed, but we must remember that 24 hrs ago development was not expected to occur until today or tomorrow.

I haven't checked on Edouard in a while, but is it a lot closer to the LA than it was yesterday? Did the center reform up north or something? Would that move the landfall closer to the TX/LA border?

Track to me is just north of west, I'd guess 275 right now and it seems to have slowed right down as the center is starting to wrap around really well now.

Certainly looking better now as well, clearly the system is finally showing real good banding throughout with only the dry slot still causing this to not look as good as it could be but some weak convection is firing up now even in the SW quad.

Correct me if I'm wrong but the radar is of the mid level circulation, and the surface circulation is South of that right?

lets see what recon finds.

i plotted the center on the image i posted earlier.. i just make another one..

as you will see in a minute , although on satellite it appears to completely exposed radar is starting tell a different story. as some decent convection has wrapped around to the west a sw side that was void earlier but there is still a dry slot that is slowly filling in but the main point is the fact that the convection is about to close of around the center at least modestly right now..
On this image keep in mind that we are looking up at a higher altitude so the center that i have circled is just trying to stay in line with a west movement but it easily could be pulled closer to any of the convection..

People who are not impressed clearly had unrealistic expectations for this storm (Like when they went to be, they expected it to be a Cat1-2 now)....Storms don't develop that fast. Less than 8 hours ago, this was NEARLY a convectionless swirl (Pressure rose to 1006 mbs)....and now its at least a 50 mph TS (Likely stronger by a bit imo)....Thats pretty impressive.

I'm not going to doubt the NHC forecast track ever again.
especially after Dolly.

A good brief analysis and I agree 100% with it.

You are in a tough situation. If I were in your shoes I would do a delayed closure. This will allow you to asses the situation around morning time and not put your company at risk of having people in the office should the worse occur.

Thank you. That's actually a good idea - and then maybe have only people who live close to the business come in when we do reopen. Thanks! Like I said, I'm sure a lot of people have this decision.

Texashawk,

do NOT ask advice in this forum. Ask for it in the tropical analysis forum. You may not get the best of advice here, but you will in tropical analysis as that is where the meteorologists post their analysis

I agree. I will not doubt the NHC again. They were almost spot on with Dolly.

Edouard is much better organized than just 12 hours ago. Convection is wraping around the center and the overall rain shield has that comma look of a developing TC. Motion appears to be just slightly north of due west based on the long range radar out of Slidell. I would not be surprised to see Edourad intensify this afternoon and evening......MGC
