For all the disclaimer that they think the storm could reach hurricane strength before landfall, the NHC still doesn't seem too bullish on the storm. They've written a fair number of bulletins at this point, and I have yet to see them put in a " PREPARATIONS TO PROTECT LIFE AND PROPERTY SHOULD BE RUSHED TO COMPLETION." in any of them.

But convection seems to be diminishing near the center (and all around the storm for that matter). I would not be surprised if they lower it to 35kts at 5PM CST.

I wasn't going to point that out Derek (didn't want to be scolded) but Dolly's track was nearly dead on. Yes, they had a Mex 5-7 days out...Other than that EURO and GFS NAILED IT!!!!

bend back may not be the right word, its probably stair-stepping as the circulation wobbles about a little towards a general 280-285 track.

Also indeed the NHC track should be pretty much bang on, no reason to doubt the track at this range with this set-up.

I am willing to put money down that the storm will not be 35kt at 5pm. You can keep willing yourself into believing that if you want.

If I lived along the NW gulf coast I'd be preparing for a hurricane, the stucture of this storm is tons better than it was yesterday.

Well i just got home from work and the gas stations are really busy... i work at a vet and interact with people all day and to my surprise no one is taking this storm seriously... most people dont even know there is a storm out there!! They have already written off this one, which is sad....

I just had all the various pieces for new our new granite counter tops delivered to our front door. The apartment complex asked us not to mess with them as the installation people are arriving on Thursday and they don't want us to accidentally lose a piece.

I was highly amused.

I'm bringing the pieces indoors- some of them are smaller than a breadbox and a solid TS gust might send them flying down the street. I doubt the neighbors want to deal with airborne granite counter top debris.
