This is a good link to why it is still going west.

Actually that's not a good example. It almost looks like he puts on the brakes at the end of that loop.

Looks like we'll get some more squalls later on tonight in New Orleans. That's fine. We need the rain. That squall that came through earlier produced some very, very heavy rain in Mid-City for about 5 minutes, then it slowed for about 10 minutes and then it picked back up real good for another 10 minutes.

Nope, at the office tomorrow. Cookies & brownies! Should be a lot less busy during landfall than in the days before. Have a couple cameras with me. I'm thinking minimal to moderate TS winds most likely around Houston, a bit more along the west side of Galveston Bay and near the coast. Even if it makes hurricane strength, I don't think any obs will register over around 65 sustained.

Looks to me like Ed has to wiggle northwest every so often... or else there's no way he'd hit the Houston /Galveston mark. Doing just what the official track says he's fixing to do so far.

Edouard looks impressive for a TS tonight. If he can maintain convection tonight, chances for a Cat-1 tomorrow could go up.
It should be close enough to LCH radar in a few more hours to follow it from there. I still can't see the center on LCH or LIX radar, too far away.

It would be nice to get some bands or into the rain-shield of Edouard tonight as we could use the rain. Currently it's breezy, more than usual for an August evening indicating we have low pressure offshore.

As usual Bob Breck is throwing out alarmist forecasts attempting to make a huge deal about this slight wobble to the northeast.Gotta love it.

It was very breezy all day today in New Orleans...it was clear that there was a system in the Gulf....clouds moving real fast and we even got a squall around 1:00, I would say. The squalls this evening were much more intense.

Considering the 61 knot FL winds found by recon, it is definitely possible that the NHC will decide to up the wind speeds at 10mph.txag2005 wrote:Any strengthening expected by the 10 pm advisory?
