Is that the center starting to appear on the southwest side of the large band off of the LA coast?

http://radar.weather.gov/radar.php?prod ... H&loop=yes

If so, it appears to be heading pretty much due west.

I am not looking at the huge hole south of the band as being the center, I am looking at the little "hook" shape toward the SW side of the band. I think that may be the true center starting to appear, and if so, it still appears to be moving westward.

Regardless of direction, it looks like the close proximity to land could hinder further intensification.

This almost looks like a landfalling tropical system or at least one that is skirting the coast.

It wasn't but it could be a pocket of dry air. I'd really like to describe what I'm looking at but I have no tech/paint skills at all.

All I can say is what I'm looking at that probably isn't anything is on the west side and there is hardly any convection underneath it. It only appears in the last two frames.

This storm isn't stacked very well, its organization isn't great. Dry air and shear tend to do that.

And to answer your question, no, I've never trivialized any storm.
