It does look like a borderline hurricane right now. Probably not quite there yet though.

If it were to take the precise track that the NHC put out at the 10 pm advisory, Houston would experience the southern eyewall (if it were a hurricane. If it starts to speed up however, as it might be doing, they may very well move back to the west and have the eye go directly over the city. It's too close to call. Either way, Houston will see Edouard up close and personal.

There's a hidden ULL in the SW quadrant that is taking dry air in and keeping the structure from wrapping. It's this ULL and not the Yucatan one some are referring to that is inhibiting development, as well as proximity to shore.

Looking at the radar I see two possible places that could be the center. One would prog it right for the border and one would send it near Galveston where NHC is saying right now.

I will really feel bad if this thing does not hit Houston head on. They want this storm so bad and they are ready for it. Now is the time for Houston to get the big one... without the effects of losing their whole economy. Come on... even if this thing is 5 miles from landfall in Beaumont I am still pulling for a Houston head on hit

Alot of us just need the storm for rain purposes.
Edouard seems to have gone through a convective burst. It's a good sign of organization if it's "bursting" at night. I think recon might find 60-70 kts at flight level today.

Hmm? I know just an hour ago I was chicken little for this going towards Cameron eastward but if that's the center that would send it exactly towards Galveston/Houston.

It's getting pretty close to shore...it may come in around Sabine Pass, or at least the "center," may start to move over land in this vicinity.

Same here... it's either close to the coast or really heading west! The local met said around 10pm that it was futher north than earlier. The outer bands are getting closer and closer to us. Not sure if we'll get the rain or not, but I can smell it. That is close.

Yes if it went due west maybe. I'm not holding my breath for this one at all. The radar presenatation is very iffy as to the "exact" location.

You guys need one just like this. What I never want to see is a Katrina headed ya'll way. The effects there would be ugly. Hopefully we all get some rain out this system. I know it's been rough fighting those 100 degree temps.

I can feel some of that frustration through my monitor. FWIW, the last VIPIR model run I saw at 9:40+/- takes the storm a bit south of NHC's revised track straight across Houston. VIPIR has a tendency to be both useful and useless but it's not really clear what you get until you get it. It's greatest success was with 2005 Cindy. It's missed plenty of other times.

No call on my end. I like the NHC/TPC's track well enough, and the model consensus is good, so go with what brought you here. JMO

The whole SW side is dry due to the ULL stuck onto its SW side.
