Hurrican...Before you go to bed, we had an OC elected official today quote "we won't get much out of this"....Wish he wouldn't have said that. 2 newspapers quoted him.

From that newscast, looks like I'm only going to get about 1/2 inch of rain here which means I'll be expected at work in 3 hours. I really don't like being out in high winds, though. Any chance Ed will change to a more westerly landfall?

im pulling an all-nighter here in Nederland, Wx.. looks like the worst weather will be right here in Jefferson county. Ill be very very surprised if this thing makes landfall anywhere west of High Island...

edit: mpic, theres no indication of anything suggesting a shift more to the W in the track

Last couple of radar frames from Lake Charles, looks to me that it may have wobbled or taken a jog more to the west.

East side looks very 'raggedy' on radar.

I've looked at the radar again and it really looks like a westward wobble at the very least. Also looks like plenty more convection beginning to fire in the SW quadrant of the storm's circulation.

He prefers HS football over weather, so this is really dipping into his plans!

He will probably be increased to 65mph or maybe even 70 at 5:00 if that keeps up.

haha yea i bet it is.. hopefully that wont be the case after we get through with this one.. thatll be 3 hurricanes (or 2 canes and 1 TS) in 4 years for us...

as far as the mention of a westward shift goes... i do see a tad bit of a wobble, but i still think for this thing to reach high island its going to have to travel close to due west.. my guess is that it comes right between HI and SP and pass directly over Winnie once it gets to I-10... refer to the disclaimer.. this is by no means an official forecast..

While you guys are up watching this, take note of the possibility of mesos starting to develop around the core of Ed....We saw this during Dolly's explosive deepening phase as it went ashore, and for most of the time its "eyewall" consisted of 4-5 mesos rotating around the Center of Circulation. I mention this because I am starting to see the same type of pattern evolving here. PLEASE NOTE that this does not mean Ed will become a category two hurricane like Dolly, just a heads up.
