I lost power briefly, but my parents were out for 4 or 5 days. I think they were the last area to get it back.
Getting a tad nervous here... it's getting really close and radar looks downright nasty.

If this makes it to Cat 1, that's two landfalling hurricanes in Tx in less than a month.
Wonder when the last time that happened is - off the top of my head, I can't remember.
I think 1983... Alicia and then Barry... within a couple weeks of each other I think...

Just a heads a bud. It seems like the storm is starting to develop rotating mesos around its center of circulation, and it has been documented that winds in these mesos can be locally 1 category higher in periodic bursts than the storm's intensity. If Ed comes in at 70-75 mph, intense gusts of near 100-110 mph can occur in these mesos. Hunker down!

Yep, I can hear the rain. I was busy making a second pot of coffee and putting it in the thermos!

The wind is just a little gusty right now.
Oh, and I'm "on call" for work.

Don't jinx us! I don't have my VZW card for my laptop.
Being partial here, but KFDM 6 is the only station doing live reports with pro mets every 30...The other 2 have just a radar shot in the corner.

Looks like if it wobbles to the north some more it could make landfall near the Texas/Louisiana border.

Re: ATL: Tropical Storm Edouard - Gulf of Mexico
Did some research - looks like the closest recent August 1983 when Alicia hit on 8/18 and Hurricane Barry (landfall just south of Brownsville) on 8/28.
Looked at Celia in 1970, but what I found showed Dorothy as a tropical storm only in the Caribbean.
Looks like you've got to go back to the early years of the 20th century to find two bona fide hurricane hits in Texas in the same month. Found a couple of Wikipedia entries in the 1930s that might have been two 'canes in a month.
But if not, this may be the first time since 1900 that two 'canes hit w/in one month of each other with landfalls actually occuring w/in the boundaries of Texas.
