To the people of Dr and Haiti & Cuba I pray you will come out safe and sound.

The people in Cuba are going to be safe because when the Cuban government says, move, you better move. They have a great evacuation system, of course, people are forced but they are ultimately safer in government shelters than in their houses. That's the main difference between Cuba and the Hispaniola in these kind of emergencies. I have been in the Dominican Republic and the houses are very similar in structure and strength to the ones in Cuba.

I myself have given up trying to see a center earlier today. I have been just looking at the top and bottom
sides to try and judge movement, since given up. Now just looking back to see where it was!

I'm not certain I believe any intensity forecast for when Fay gets off Cuba. Previous storms have done different things, and intensity forecasts are just horrendous. I think everyone in the cone needs to be prepared for just about anything and hope that the final track minimizes time over water.

I think Fay may start moving in a WNW if not already in the next 12 hours possibly skirting the cuban coast and not go through to the gulf if that ULL in Cuba sticks around, this has to force it to the NW.

I live in St. Pete, FL -- right across the street from Tampa Bay. We usually have roseate spoonbills hanging around. I'll go take a look tomorrow and see if they are "missing in action" in advance of a storm (let's hope not!)

One question about housepets like dogs and cats...do you think sometimes they are reacting to OUR apprehension about a storm by being clingy, etc.? I know my dogs are pretty sensitive to my moods.

I agree. And the warm Gulf waters won't help much and it wouldn't take Fay to long to intensify over 90º waters.

Nuts!!!! I have guests over. I don't know about everybody else, but model runs over land don't bring me a lot of confidence. But, every year it gets better and better. I guess I will get some gas later tonight.

it has been quiet here with the birds. We have had an over abundance of cardinals ourselves this year. They have been great to watch.

Georges is legendary in Harrison and Jackson Counties, MS. Frederic is a Mobile County legend as well. Not the biggest storms to affect those areas, but certainly very nasty ones. Both did cross the islands to emerge intact and cause problems for the US. I don't see those kinds of tracks with Fay, but they both were close in the alphabet (F, G storms) but later in the season.

luvstorms wrote:2 days ago, there was a bright pink bird in our tree that was colored like a flamingo. I learned that it was a Roseate Spoonbill. I've lived here 15 yrs and have never seen one here on Hilton Head. I read they are mostly found on the Gulf Coast and Bahamas. Maybe it knew to get out of the way of future Fay???

WOW!!!!!
What a picture!!!!! For a Roseate Spoonbill to be that far north is highly unusual. I live in South East Florida and I rarely see them.

If you know any birdwatchers, you should tell them. They will go NUTS. You have a picture too!!!!

Yeah, we had quite a few cardinals this year too! Now that I think about it - haven't heard many birds today either. I saw the sandhill cranes - but they are always around.

ok well everyone get some sleep tonight as there is nothing to watch radar is to far away
and dont even try to say its moving one way or the other while the center is being disrupted by 10,000ft mountains
a general wnw motion of the "cloud mass".( there wil be no way to effectively track any center not even with obs as there is to many mountain and satellite will not work either since oragraphic lifting will screw with your eyes pretty bad) is in store tonight and depending on how much survives will determine how fast it regernates.. my advise is get some sleep cause its going to be a very busy next few days if enough survives..

later

oh and LLC do not go over mountains ... they go bye bye.. death to LLC new one will have to reform once over water...

Fay is just about to meet the mountains of Hispaniola. Head on, by the look of it.

Could be seeing things but it looks like Fay could be getting tugged a .little north maybe due to land interaction.
