Why the hell did he slow down at the end? He could have taken a tenth off the record.

I know what you mean!!!!

THESE OLYMPICS ARE INCREDIBLE!!!

The 100M final was WOW!!!! I do wonder why he coasted in because he definitely could have taken a good deal more of the WR.

Bolt is lightning. I guess since he already held the WR...he didn't care as long as he won. Maybe he figures that leaves him more room to break it again? Who knows.

Afterwards I told my wife: "It's funny...we are sitting here looking at a world record like that (9.69) saying 'I wish he would have tried a little harder.""

That's crazy talk!

A great weekend for the Olympics. I can't remember us being this high up in the table before! What makes it more impressive is although we are behind China and the USA we only have half the number of athletes in Beijing.

Here is the table as it currently stands.

Rank Country Gold Silver Bronze TOTAL
1 China 35 13 13 61
2 USA 19 21 25 65
3 Great Britain 11 6 8 25
4 Germany 9 6 6 21
5 Australia 8 10 11 29
6 South Korea 8 9 5 22
7 Japan 8 5 7 20
8 Russia 7 11 12 30
9 Italy 6 6 6 18
10 Ukraine 5 3 6 14

-Ratings Breakdown:
NBC dominated Saturday, of course, as a result of the ongoing 2008 Summer Olympics from Beijing, which averaged a whopping 29.25 million viewers and a 9.5 rating/29 share among adults 18-49 for the prime-time (8-11 p.m.) portion. Here is the half-hour breakdown:

2008 Summer Olympics – Saturday 8/16/08
8:00 p.m. – Viewers: 16.93 million, A18-49: 4.8/19
8:30 p.m. – Viewers: 19.50 million, A18-49: 5.9/21
9:00 p.m. – Viewers: 24.56 million, A18-49: 7.7/25
9:30 p.m. – Viewers: 28.67 million, A18-49: 9.2/28
10:00 p.m. – Viewers: 34.80 million, A18-49: 11.6/34
10:30 p.m. – Viewers: 38.81 million, A18-49: 13.3/38

Comparably, this was the largest audience for any NBC show on Saturday since sitcom Empty Nest on Feb. 24, 1990. According to NBC, the networks of NBC Universal have reached 191 million total viewers who have watched some or all of the coverage through the first nine days of the 2008 Summer Olympics -- 14 million more than the first nine days for Athens (177 million) and five million more than the Atlanta Games (186 million). The nine-day total for these Games now surpasses the final overall 17-day viewership totals for the Salt Lake City (187 million) and Sydney Games (185 million).

Jamaica owns this Olympics 100M! First it was the Bolt of lightning (who could have run it in 9.5 secs IMO). Then the women got the top 3 spots (1 Gold and 2 tied for Silver). Amazing stuff, man.

There's gonna be one heck of a welcome home party in Jamaica!

Indeed, I was watching that this morning and found it pretty funny.

Four more gold medals for us today making it our most successful Olympics since London 1908 (In which we were the only competitors in some sports).

And what a 200m Final! As one commentator put it, Bolt was in a separate race. He was simply running against the clock. And this time he put his all into it, not cutting his engines till the end. And to put icing on the cake, Mr Bolt's compatriot also grabbed Gold minutes afterwards in her 400m. Jamaica (and by extension, the Caribbean) is having an absolutely incredible Olympics.

Japan beats the US in the softball Gold Medal game. Is joins the Miracle on Ice and Rulon Gardner winning gold, in my opinion, as one of the biggest upsets in Olympics history. It of course, does not have the importance for the nation as that game.
