Can someone explain to me how to see if the winds are close to making it down to the center? There is near no wind in Miami right now.

The storm is badly synoptically sheared as the displacement is showing you.

However it is looking good as far as being at the beginning of a run over very favorable waters. I think we know what this will look like prior to landfall.

The winds come with the rain bands. If you are not experiencing any or light rain right now, there is no wind.

Half the people in South Florida are probably checking for updates...

I don't know, looking at the loops, I find it hard to beleive Fay is getting better organized. I see no solid convection around the center. I don't see her getting to hurricane strength landfall. I see the east coast of Fla. getting the worst of it but thats just my opinion.

nice fun little south east wind swell has picked up in boca this morning (surf) and winds are still very light. may give it a go

radar from http://weather.cod.edu/analysis/paulradar.pl?BYX

LLC found near 23.6 81.5 moving NNW 330 or so, forecast surprises seem over for now

I don't like this. After Humberto last year, we should have learned our lesson. This thing is not far from a stacked inner core at all. If that happens, then this thing (personal opinion)will go to a hurricane in 3-4 hours.
