Re: ATL: Tropical Storm Fay in Florida Straits
Is it me or does Fay seem to be wrapping up a bit....just an observation by my very unofficial and untrained eye..(seems also to be moving rather slowly).

yes in the last 45 minutes (after the last recon ) you can see a lack of movement , prior to that on radar you could see the NW movement that the recon confirmed. Bad news imo

based on the last 2 recon fixes its moving northwest still
That's what I thought.
But, I must say... it's amazing what you can see on radar loops without actually measuring movement... just by staring, you could make your eyes believe that it's moving NW, S, N, or NE.

I see that; it's a good looking supercell and the mesocyclone shows up well, esp. on the Miami radar. I'm still trying to take a peak at the SPC site, but that one's down. It must be on the same servers as the TPC (?).

Re: Re:
I still see motion on radar. It is probably slower than 13mph, but it is still clearly lifting NNW, IMO...cpdaman wrote:Evil Jeremy wrote:I am seeing slow movement based on radar:

If you try to look at what appears to be a center in that radar, it almost looks like it's very slowly drifting N or NNE, but then if you take a look at the overall body of rain cycling around the center, it's almost moving W or WNW... so I can't really tell. I'd take an average and just say it is still on track.

doesn't latest radar show that the LLC opened up on the south side

Watch for the stronger convection to the east of the center to start pulling the center of Fay slowly to the NNE and eventually NE.

The LLC is too far from the Key West radar to reveal lower-topped convection. There's more than likely some weaker activity south of the center that's just not resolved at this radar range.

quite possible, that trough nearly has Fay at this point and may induce a more NNE movement overtime today....
