yours have disappeared as well? I did run into one frog - dad gum cuban frog on one of my orchids. Strange he is out during the day. They usually hide during the day and come out at night here. There are about 20 of them behind a hurricane shutter that we, no, make that my hubby, leaves up that no one sees! :cheesy:

Channel 4 met in Miami is going to talk to Ed Rappaport at NHC and is going to ask about apparent stall/east jump

WHAT? Radar shows it getting organized very quickly.

wunderground's doesn't

Yeah Sanibel interestingly a few models did hint at that possibly occuring, I remember a GFS run this morning slowed Fay right down around the Keys region and had it taking about 18-24hrs to make the trip towards land.

Fay continues to look steadily more and more impressive, I suspect recon will find a system with a deeper pressure and also winds probably only a little below hurricane force near the center on that northern side in the explosive convection.

LOL
Yep - I have orchids that hang at the front door (in a condo that faces east. our doorway becomes a wind tunnel) and the lizards are usually all over them during the day. I pulled them down without running into a single lizard. As I was throwing stuff in the garbage in our storage outside the door, I expected to see a bunch of frogs because of all the rain, but there weren't any. I hadn't even thought about it until you mentioned something. Very interesting....haven't seen birds out here today either. There may be something to this animal thing.....

Outflow is beginning to improve on the southwestern quadrant of the storm as well...

The center appears to be to the SE side of that convective burst. You can identify it clearly on the image below. Key west has a 5kt NNW wind and 998.1mb pressure. It's just to the east of the island. The center of the convective burst is about 40 miles to the NNW of the center. Oh, and I see no evidence of an eye. The convective burst isn't the center.

the visible loop makes it seems like it is still moving north-northwest

no birds here either. Seems sanibel found all the birds according to a post of his earlier. It is supposed to hit over there yet they are everywhere he said. Makes one wonder...

Yeah the wind reports and radar both seem to indicate that the center is ENE of Key West.

I thought about that. Mixed a martini then got REAL concerned. If it does move W or WNW that would be beyond bad...

You can't see the center on visible imagery. Don't assume it's beneath that blob of convection. See my previous post. Use radar to find the center. Looking at Key West radar, the center appears to be moving to the ENE or NE the past 2 hours. Probably just wobbling around.

Yes because of building convection.

Can you comment on the previous question.. is the recent eastward "jog" true per radar out of Key West?

Fay just can't seem to get stacked . . . much better radar presentation but still elongated from N-S. Let's hope she hurries on shore b/c if she gets another 18-24 hours over the florida straits as some models are depicting I think Fay could be a real handful
