The core tiny eye is still there, and perfectly round: http://radar.weather.gov/ridge/radar.ph ... R&loop=yes

Yup, the inner core has collapsed. The old pinhole eye is still spinning at the SW corner of what looks like a new larger eye forming. However, this new eye is not so overly huge that the storm cant become a hurricane IMO. IF it moves over water, my gut is that it will be bigger overall in size, but still get to cat 1 status... that is of course if it can crawl into the water.

Down to 45 kts on 10pm advisory. Still forecasting a hurricane. Not likely.

What i think would be hilarious is if Fay never gets to water, turns north then northwest, then west and then tracks all the way across Florida again!

Personally, I blame her behavior on the mojitos she downed while over Cuba. She's still sleeping off the mother of all hangovers. She is one wack storm.

I'd be willing to put $5 on that possibility, but I think you'd have better odds playing roulette than betting the odds against Fay!

My look is that the big half eye is Fay's way of reaching towards warm water while having too good a structure to jump a relocation. What you are seeing here is probably the first phase of recovery. It isn't quiting that little eye, it is gaining the bigger one.

There would be nothing left...or would the structure reorganize and intensify feeding off the Florida...ahem....LAND...

Moving away from the station east of the old center.

Might be moving towards this station but with fairly rapid weakening taking place tracking is going to be difficult.

If Fay's history says anything she'll struggle over water ... for whatever reason ... I hope.

No she is already weakening. I think there would be stuff left to go out to the gulf and if it went far enough west could be a strong storm.

Since she is exiting the coast a little south of what was projected, is it possible that her 3rd landfall prediction may move a little bit south of St. Augustine?

Ahem,

of course there's always the possibility that this is the first EWRC to happen over land. I joke ... I think.
