Even the local TV mets can't agree where she is. Within the past 10 minutes, WFTV centers Fay over Port St John, but Channel13 News says the center is 15 miles due south of Cape Canaveral and moving due north at 5 mph. That is approximately Satellite Beach and about 30 miles from Pt St John.
It's still dark here so I haven't wandered far, but from my driveway, I'm only seeing a lot of leaves on the road. I was surprised to find a newspaper delivered this morning! (Kudos to my delivery person!)
There is a report from Port Canaveral authorities that a very large bar/restaurant has suffered heavy wind damage. The place (Ryan's Portside for the locals) has actually been closed for a few months and appeared to need repairs anyway.
Brevard (Space Coast) info: 9,700 were without power last night; currently down to 5,500. Over 50 homes damaged, 9 unhabitable. Three known injured people, none serious. More than six inches of rain over some parts of the county last night; Melbourne broke a rain record. We are currently under a flash flood warning.
All Brevard schools are closed again today, as well as the Space Center and many other employers. One note of concern: Orange County (Orlando) decided late yesterday to reopen their schools this morning and they are currently experiencing near trop-storm winds -- the highest they've had in the past two days.
Will report more later and get some pics after the sun comes up ...
