I wish you guys could see how hard it's raining... Please make this thing MOVE AWAY!!!

Melbourne NWS... "THIS IS A HISTORIC AND POTENTIALLY HAZARDOUS RAINFALL EVENT..."

http://forecast.weather.gov/showsigwx.p ... od+Warning

The rain bands just keep re-firing over the same area, why? Fay is barely over water, where is she getting this moisture from?

Really hope Fay moves her butt soon. That rain situation in Melbourne is going to go from horrendous to ... well even worse. Really aweful IMHO. Just look at the nonstop heavy returns for them on radar. :(

Edit: see you posted at the same time Chris.. know we are thinking about you down there. Having been through the flooding rains of Floyd in NC I've seen first hand how ugly that is.

We are thinking about you guys over here in louisiana. I hope Fay starts moving away from you soon. Judging by your rainfall totals, I'm sure you won't be sad to see her go!

Short vid of West Melbourne, FL, flooding.

I'd never get my car through some of those spots.

I feel for Melbourne and the surrounding area, reminds me of the deluge we got from Georges' when I recorded almost 24" in my back yard. Just kept coming down in sheets, I still have video of it somewhere.

You were right last night, Chris. It was no where near being close to over. I don't have answers as to "why", but I'm in agreement with you that enough is enough.

There are some unofficial reports of up to 21" of rain in parts of Brevard already. FAY needs to start packing!

I am in east, central Florida and have not had the significant rain event that Brevard has, but my ground is saturated .. squishy. I can't imagine what it's like over there, and getting worse by the hour.

Hey, just a word of caution here. I would slow down doing that you could very well send a wake strong enough to reach into someones house.

That's exactly what I was thinking. I remember a time when it flooded near my home in Baton Rouge; homeowners were shooting warning shots at motorists who were driving too fast and pushing water into their homes. I don't condone that type of deterrent however.

Is Fay picking up some steam? It seems the wind and rain are blowing and coming down harder and harder by the 1/2 hour...

Just a vid I found on the 'net. I feel the same as you do, and would never willingly go out in conditions like this.

There were reports on the Orlando stations last night where residents were pleading with people to either not drive through the streets at all, or at least to slow to a crawl because the wake is making things far worse.

We feel your pain.
We thought 7-9 inches was a lot but when I see this in the Melbourne NWS Discussion:

Storm total reports of 16 and 21 inches have been received over
north Melbourne. The resulting flooding has produced life
threatening flooding and continues to be the main hazard in the
short term.

it is scary how much water that is.

Good luck and be careful.

THey would warn you on the radio around here and that the cops can ticket you for wreckless driving for those conditions.

She just might be, she appears to be just off the coast now and with her structure and UL conditions favorable this little lady could be re-strengthening as I type.

The low sea temps there (upper 60s) are the only good thing, but still .. FAY needs to kick it and getouttahere!

Do we have any idea when the westward motion should begin?
