I have to say that's ridiculous.

In hindsight Fay entered an environment with an unseasonable trough over the Gulf. Conditions were probably still too early even though it was mid-August. Makes me fret about September if conditions are yet to snap in place.

Yes, I think so. According to my very sophisticated method of dry erase marks on the computer screen, the center is approximately 20-25 miles NW of Daytona Beach. But that's just my guess.

the conditions in the GOM might not be favorable right now, but what about 2 weeks from now when fay finally emerges into the GOM?

Incredible what Fay has been able to do. The entire peninsula has been under some kind of watch or warning at some point in the last few days.

I'm not sure where to put this.

Out of curiosity how well do you all think people and or government prepared for Fay's impact on Florida?

Do you think there is more that can be done that isn't too late for some?

When all is said and done, I wonder if "Fay" doesn't get retired? At this rate it may be Christmas before that happens, but still....

Nah, probably won't get retired.

This is WONDERFUL news. We may see Fall very early this season. Anyway I think is safe to say the 2005 record season will stand for another season. I don't see 22 storms in the next 3 months.

Maybe from a measurement point of view but when it rains so hard so fast the ground doesnt have too much time to soak it all in. Granted the ground will do a lot of soaking but it wont catch all of it.

Have a gander at Fay's 11pm fix. Is it just me, or does it look like she's trying to mimic a recon flight pattern? All she needs to do now is make another east jog!
