Wow! I have an old friend that lives there from over 20 years ago. Do either of you know how Verbenia Dr. did?

Still looks like it may only have a brief flirtation with the gulf but we shall wait and see, its not going to have enough space to strengthen though it seems.

Good Afternoon From Pensacola~

Where are you seeing a center trying to form further south? I have become obsessed with weather forums since Saturday (this is my first post). Wish that I would have found them years ago...I know nothing, but have always been fascinated by weather, especially tropical! I have learned so much in the last few days and am now really irritated by TWC…they just repeat the same stuff over and over and over.
I also think I see a "center" trying to form a little further south on Ivanhaters map and wanted to compare the location you are seeing it come off into the GOM.
I think we are beginning to see the first clouds from Fay, just had a little sprinkle and there has been a noticeable breeze most of the day. I am located in Warrington (just off NAS Pensacola-very close to Pensacola Bay and a few Bayous). We were SPANKED during Ivan!

Storm2K is the best weather forum I have found yet!

Welcome. I don't know if anyone is offering a center reformation event as occurring. Folks are judging by radar, which can be iffy because of the angle at which radar beams are being reflected.

Visible imagery isn't working because the could tops occlude determination of a clear eye.

Looking at the radar, assuming it keeps the same apparent course, it looks like it will just clip across Appalachee Bay. Hopefully not enough time over water for it to intensify.

I'm actually starting to think that we could get some nice rain on Sunday with Fay before she head out to the NE. I doubt wind will be an issue, but, hey, I'll take the rain. Hopefully, the center will be close enough to New Orleans that we do get some rain. This has been one wild system to watch. It's been a few years since we had one like this where the system had so many weather pattern issues that affected they systems direction.

Not that I know of. I was born & raised here-I'm only 28, so I guess that's not that long, but my family has always been in this general area.
Just since I posted a few minutes ago, I stepped outside and the breeze has gotten a little stronger. We're very close to the water so I guess it's still considered a breeze vs. wind at this point, but you can just feel something is on the way!
Prior to Ivan, I don't remember ever paying much attention to the tropics unless they said it was coming to Pensacola, but post-Ivan it doesn't take much for people to pucker around here :) Doesn't seem like too many people locally are paying much attention with Fay which could be unfortunate in low lying areas. We also have ALOT of people that will go to the beach and get in the water...rip currents and undertows affect people every day around here.

What does a 7 course meal consist of in a TS/Hurricane? An MRE and a 6 Pack :) :) :)

Fay's max sustained winds have decreased to 40 mph...she still looks pretty decent but it appears as though she is finally and ever so gradually beginning to weaken...

Wow impressive rainfall totals from Fay pretty much across a big area of north Florida ad given its slow motion and continuing convective strength many more areas could get flooding still.

I never want to hear the words again "its only a tropical storm". Also, "we don't need flood insurance because we're not in a flood plain." My heart goes out to all the people being affected by Fay. Can you imagine what damage she could have done if she hadn't gone island hopping?
