First Impressions of Storm2k

Here's a place I'd like to encourage those who have been here only a short time...or participate in a very limited way...for you to post your early impressions.

Is this a friendly place, a "cliquish" place, a stuffy place, a boring place, a scary place, a conservative place, a disappointing place, or does some other adjective describe what you see and read here better.

An honest take on your first impression could really help us stay in touch with those who visit and are silent, not just those who visit and make some noise.

How about it. Any impressions you'd like to share?

I feel that this site is a very friendly place to discuss all sorts of issues; including issues of the day (current events) and the weather, (not just tropical weather).

Every single time I am online (which is very often) I access this site.

If I didn't feel comfortable among those that have a common interest as myself, I certain will not be accessing this board hours a day. Actually, in some ways I think it is helping me become more social, without having anyone to be more social with, especially my age. All my neighbors are over 55 years old, except some between 40 and 55... but very few.

I have IMed with a few members, which I have really enjoyed. For some reason I don't IM people first, but am always very glad to chat with others one on one.

This is a very cool place to be. I've been watching over my dad's shoulder and it is a nice place to joke, share opinions, and just talk about stuff. BUT BEWARE, COMMUNITY OF S2K, I'M ALWAYS WATCHING!!!

Storm2K is the friendliest board I've ever posted at....I feel totally relaxed here, comfortable.
Most forums you post a message and wait for some idiot to trash you....

I've posted a few things that someone has taken exception too, but they expressed their displeasure (with one exception) with class and courtesy...totally unlike the name calling and taunting of other forums.

I can't agree with you more, Perry.

A great majority here are kind and considerate of how we are as a person. There are also plenty here that have an understanding of what some of us go through on a daily basis.

I can't even begin to tell you how much this site has brought to my life! I have made some wonderful friends and many of those, I chat with offline too! I am amazed by the comraderie and the willingness to offer help where it is needed. I am a very spiritual person and am so hapy to have found a board where I can voice my faith with others who feel the same way. I dont think I have ever see a board where "Prayer Warriors" are even thought of but we have them here and the miracles I have seen have been awesome!! There are many, many people on this board who I would walk over hot coals for and some of those people I haven't even met yet!

There are no such things as strangers, just friends we have not met yet!

God Bless each and every one of you and I consider all of you my friends!

My first impression was that it was (and still is) a very nice place to come and relax and chit-chat. At the time I was pretty shell-shocked by what was occurring over at TWC so I had mixed feelings at first, I almost felt like I landed in a shelter but I was sooo happy to see many familiar friends here. TWC was the first forum I ever signed up for and I had a vested interest in it. Storm2k has made me feel so welcome and so at home that I can't imagine spending my time anywhere else!

Before even reading all the other replies, I'd have to say my very first impression of Storm2K was/is a friendly place! And has it changed since then? No it hasn't. And I still say the nicest thing they do here is welcome each newcomer with a personal Welcome topic. When I saw one for me when I joined I sat up and took notice. You just do not find that sort of thing these days.

I love it here!!!!

IMO, this is an extremely friendly place... I only joined in May, but that 1st impression hasn't changed in the 2 months I've been here! 8-)

QUICK EDIT: I didn't realize it, but I've been here exactly 2 months as of today! Just thought I'd share.

Very friendly place for sure...nothing I don't like about it. Great people, awesome staff, etc, etc...could go on for hours.

It is great! The mods/admin are very open in revealing why they do what they do, which is a problem at other boards. Posts will disappear and no one explains why.

At first I felt kind of on the inside looking in because I was not very active on TWC, but in the weeks after I joined that soon faded. Everyone here is like a family. I hope others who may just lurk and read will take the time to post, if only in the Front Porch page to say howdy.

wx247!!! I couldn't agree more. And you bring up a very good observation - there must be some members lurking and reluctant to post. We need to remedy that! Make them feel very comfortable and encourage them to post in a forum where they would feel most at home at. Be it Off Topic, Tropics, USA Weather, or Gardening, etc. Perhaps a brand new topic directed at members who are presently lurking might be a good idea? Suggestions anyone? Steve/Askyman, you're always so good at wording topics just the best way......ball's in your court if you want the "job"!!!

I understand that you were wanting first impressions. I gave mine without indicating specifically that they were indeed my first impressions... which are lasting impressions.

I see that "other regulars" have responded to this topic, which on first thought the "first impression aspect" may show members that "frequent posters" need not reply.

Oh, where to begin! The admins are rude and impersonal, everyone's opinions are stifled and limited to weather, nobody gets along, it's infested with people I disagree with, there are too many crazy people, need I go on?

I joined S2k very early, a few days after the board opened. I never posted very much in the begining, being very shy, and not wanting to get flamed (as I had been on other boards) My worries were unfounded, as I was made to feel welcome by everyone here, and I have not looked back!

I honestly can say I Love this site and have made some wonderful and true friends... The atmosphere has not changed since the day I joined, even with sooooo many new members, Storm2k continues to be the only board I post on and in my humble opinion the best board on the internet!
