Had a nice line come in today around 3PM in Jacksonville.

2 cargo cranes blown over, many trees on houses.

I work in a skyscraper on the 16th floor downtown, we had some nice flexing of the windows (cat 3 rated) during the storm.

Tornado impacts Hialeah, Florida. I have seen the images of a five-block radius damage and it looks like it was an F0 to F1.

Raining here again today. Seems like the Coast Guard is doing some training or something. They have been taking off from MacDill and heading just about due west the last couple of days.

AREA FORECAST DISCUSSION
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE TAMPA BAY RUSKIN FL
830 PM EDT MON SEP 8 2008

.DISCUSSION...SHOWERS AND A FEW THUNDERSTORMS MOVED OVER MOST OF
LEVY AND CHARLOTTE COUNTIES DURING THE LATE AFTERNOON AND EARLY
EVENING HOURS. ADDITIONAL SHOWERS ARE STILL MOVING FROM THE EAST AND
MAY BRING SOME BRIEF RAIN PERIODS THROUGH THE EVENING. THESE SHOWERS
ARE ASSOCIATED WITH THE OVERALL CIRCULATION OF IKE...WHICH IS NOW
AFFECTING THE ISLAND OF CUBA.

ISOLATED TO SCATTERED SHOWERS REMAIN IN THE FORECAST FOR THE REST OF
THE EVENING...THEN BECOMING SCATTERED TO NUMEROUS ON TUESDAY
AFTERNOON. ALSO...PRESSURE GRADIENTS WILL GRADUALLY BECOME TIGHTER
OVER MUCH OF CENTRAL AND SOUTHERN FLORIDA AS IKE SWINGS TO OUR
SOUTH...BRINGING BREEZY CONDITIONS THROUGH WEDNESDAY.

WITH IKE MOVING INTO THE GULF WATERS LATE TUESDAY...SWELLS GENERATED
BY THE CYCLONE WILL REACH THE WEST COAST OF FLORIDA WITH INCREASING
POTENTIAL FOR MINOR COASTAL FLOODING. THEREFORE...A COASTAL FLOOD
STATEMENT HAS BEEN ISSUED FROM WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON AND THROUGH
THURSDAY FOR ALL COASTAL COUNTIES.

Re: Florida Weather Thread - Back to semi-normal weather

High pressure will remain draped over Florida through Wednesday with a slight shift southward with time as a weakening cold front approaches. The front will stall over northern Florida Tuesday with southwest flow increasing over the area. Afternoon sea breeze circulations will make good progress inland each day with convection favoring interior locations, except areas from Charlotte Harbor southward. Temperatures will remain above average Today, before becoming more average Tuesday and Wednesday.

Image

A COLD FRONT WILL STALL ACROSS NORTHERN FLORIDA WITH THE BOUNDARY REMAINING IN PLACE THROUGH THE WEEKEND. LIGHT EASTERLY FLOW WILL REMAIN ACROSS THE AREA AND ALLOW AN AFTERNOON SEA BREEZE TO DEVELOP EACH DAY. SCATTERED THUNDERSTORMS WILL THEN FORM ALONG THE SEA BREEZE BOUNDARY AND PUSH INLAND EACH AFTERNOON. TEMPERATURES WILL BE NEAR NORMAL THROUGH SUNDAY.
