Kingston still reporting east winds, I'm not sure it's moved.

Come on guys take a chill pill. We've got all weekend to watch this. You guys are gonna drive each other insane.
When I first joined this forum, it was a very civil place. Nobody ripped another member's head off, even for making a dumb comment.
Today, things have changed. A legitimate question will, if it's lucky, get a "take it to the TA forum, pal" response. An opinion, unless combined with enough weasel words and uncertainty to satisfy any attorney, risks an abusive response.
I don't like it. This is still the the best weather forum I've found to get good and accurate current information. But it seems pretty nuts to me to be fighting about a weather system none of us can control.

I guess because it's kind of a "lull" right now. But I've noticed it too. What I've noticed about S2K is that there appears to be too many thin-skinned posters. There's too much "I told you so", and stuff like that. And no one just lets criticism roll off their back. It's been getting worse lately though.

Gus' idiosyncrasy is sticking to landmasses it crosses longer than it seems like it should.
Should emerge out the other side sooner or later.

Hmm, I wonder if there's any possibility of the NAM model verifying? That would take Gus into the Yukatan and into the BOC...

These models should be on "So you think you can dance"
Ain't that sweet. I stopped by the store on the way home to pick up a six-pack of beer for my wife.
Noticing earlier today that the models were perhaps signaling west, I went into the bottled drinks aisle. About 60% of the shelves for bottled water were empty. So I grabbed two cases even though I don't know where this storm is going. It's not like we ever throw full bottles away.
But Houstonians, at least some of them, are already making runs on the stores.

You betcha. Lousiana or Mississippi, and they haven't been shifting that much. Every time one shifts the slightest bit West, someone jumps on it to assert it Gustav is coming to Houston.
I'll repeat, I'm paying attention, everyone should, in case the unlikely happens, and we'll be affected in Houston by the influx of refugees, I'm sure, no matter where the final landfall is.
Maybe people are mentioning Houston because it is IN THE CONE

That is definitely a shift westward by the GFDL. They may actually be getting onto something now. We'll see.

All the storns usually end up east of the forecasted landfall point. With that said and the current model projections one can only conclude that the same will happen. (I know there is a first for everything but I'm confidently thinking this will end up East of Texas.) At the present the models & NHC seem to support that. If things change I will be the first to point it out and acknowledge that I was wrong. Maybe that is what Ed is thinking too?
Back to Gustav
Not all storms. Case & point, Allen, 1980.
Yeah, I discount any Texas possibility too - I've seen them go east too many times. If you have to go back 28 years to prove otherwise, then that doesn't prove much!

Not picking on any single individual here, but some of you post WAY too much and about any and every little thing......
Examples
It wobbled west
It wobbled North
I think it is moving North then south then west then.......
Your wrong, it went south
Your wrong it went north
Most all of us on here know how to look at a Sat Pic or interpret a wobble. Some just think they need to tell us all something all the time and have an opinion on every single little detail. Ease Up, let others have an opinion and if you see something you disagree with -so what, we all don't need to know you disagree.

I agree that many here have a shorter fuse than I have seen in the time I have been reading S2K. I think it is because Fay was such a LOOOOOONG event and now 2 potential storms with 2 more lurking. BUT while I know it seems potentially low probability....I have not seen anyone consider the fact the Florida COULD have 2 Major landfalls within 96 hours! That is an economic disaster possibly larger than the economic fallout from Katrina for a state that already has MAJOR insurance woes! I guess the bright side is there are LOTS of Vacant rental homes in the metro areas right now!

I think people can/should post as often as they please, but they shouldn't ridicule others for their opinion no matter how dead on or how foolish it may be. Discussions are great, debates are great, but you shouldn't ridicule someone because you disagree or think they're wrong. And if someone wants to post one word it's a message board, I say as long as its civil post away ... dunno...

I'm surprised no one's commenting on this recent trend we're seeing in the models. The GFS, the NOGAPS, the UKMET, the HWRF, the AEMN all slow it down SIGNificantly just offshore. It's one thing to have a fast landfall of a major hurricane, but what about a Category 3+ hurricane churning 50 miles off the coast of several major cities and towns?

Hey, no. I for example am a really poor weatherman and questioned, i think, a lot of stupid things and always was treated well. The only case i really got cussed was by a fellow citizen of my own country...
So no problem at all, dude.
