Most all of us on here know how to look at a Sat Pic or interpret a wobble. Some just think they need to tell us all something all the time and have an opinion on every single little detail. Ease Up, let others have an opinion and if you see something you disagree with -so what, we all don't need to know you disagree.

I think people can/should post as often as they please, but they shouldn't ridicule others for their opinion no matter how dead on or how foolish it may be. Discussions are great, debates are great, but you shouldn't ridicule someone because you disagree or think they're wrong. And if someone wants to post one word it's a message board, I say as long as its civil post away ... dunno...

Yes, much better to post your observation with info to back it up, and let that stand as your opposition to another poster. Just MHO.

Otherwise, I've got a great idea for a new horror story:
I was an amateur meteorologist. :cheesy:

Sorry, couldn't resist. Too much time spent watching Fay and Gustav, and now back to Gus.

Good points and bad points above. I have bolded both.

I have underlined what we are not going to tolerate here. We have literally hundreds trying to use this site for informational purposes and for discussion and debate, NOT FOR CHAT, that is why we have a chat room. Please use it. As Cajunmama stated previously we will begin to issue suspensions without warning if the abuse continues. Yes it is abuse when we have repeatedly asked that posters put some thought and substance into their posting and back it up with solid evidence or at least state why they beilieve something is or isn't going to happen. Any further attacks on individuals or professional organizations will result in immediate suspensions. I don't how much clearer we can make it that we need to keep the chatter down and the information and useful discussion up during this time.

Not trying to be "thin skinned" or snippy, but oh my... Southeast Texas is not in the middle of nowhere and there are lots and lots of lives and property around here. CNN made the same mistake during Rita, saying we are "unpopulated marshland". Please pray for us as we are praying for all of y'all.

I thought Eduord (sp) made landfall on some Big Bend State Park or something with minimal squalls and activity in the Houston suburban areas.

Eduoard was weak, however the eye traveld into NE Houston. A strong three would be High winds and gust well into the Houston Metro area. That's the last thing we need, a Major Gustav making landfall on the Bolivar Peninsula. The current NHC track is almost simular to Eduoard if it shifts West at the same angle.

This is gonna get lost and buried. It's already off the current page. Can you put something like this at the top like the Disclaimer?

it made landfall at Sea Rim State Park, but you have to realize that the Golden triangle area is just north of there, not that far inland.. I live between Beaumont and Port Arthur... very populated area..

BTW all, i found this in the archives for Tropical Storm Edourd that hit here in Houston just recently. It just goes to show that alot can change in just a short amount of time.

I remember all the craziness going around Houston right before landfall, and the worse we got here was just some rain bands and some 30-45 mph gusts. Nothing catastrophic.

I was wondering about the voluntary evacs. Just curious when and where you heard that. I know they said on the local news that officials will be discussing evacs tomorrow morning.

As if we didn't have enough things to worry about, a snippet from the Lake Charles discussion.

THE GFS CONTINUES TO DEPICT AN OUTFLOW CHANNEL (TO THE
MIDLATITUDE WESTERLIES) BECOMING ESTABLISHED ALONG AN AXIS FROM
THE CENTRAL GULF OF MEXICO THROUGH JACKSONVILLE AND INTO THE
SOUTHWEST NORTH ATLANTIC BY SUNDAY MORNING. CONSEQUENTLY...GUSTAV MAY
RAPIDLY INTENSIFY...IF ITS TRACK APPROACHES THIS OUTFLOW CHANNEL.

Can any of you pro guys or amateurs out there post a image to where Gustav may be by Monday?

I keep hearing about this westward bend that the models are picking up due to a high pressure system to its north...

Apperently this bend will occur sometime on Monday.

Thanks all!

I work for a newspaper in Beaumont. I am hearing that voluntary could start Saturday. If you have a Tuesday landfall, 36 hours out is the mandatory order, correct?

SELA not playing around. St. Bernard Parish where I live has decided on MANDATORY evacuation of the Parish at 5PM Saturday should the current forecast hold. A curfew will immediately put into place after the evacuation should it stand.
