Kelly, you make valid points, however, why even have elections. the electoral vote has already been decided in most cases before the elections are even held. Here in Minnesota a couple of elections ago, they ran a program on one of the newsa shows about one of our delegates to the electoral college. they showed her attending the electoral college function where they cast their votes. Actually before they cast their votes, and it was well before the election that "We the people" get to participate in. And she was letting people know how our great state was voting. Now if the electoral college bases their vote on what the popular vote in their region is, why did she know how she was voting before the actual election?

IMHO, the electoral college had its place and time. When the media wasn't national like it is now. They individual territories cast their votes and the delegate to the electoral college traveled to Washington to cast the vote relating to their areas popular vote. Not necessary in this day and age.

As I said earlier in this thread the Electoral College has some flaws. Blizzard just pointed out some good ones. In some states the delegates are not bound to vote according to the popular vote. That's a big hole in the system.
