stations stopped reporting 90 minutes ago (315 utc)
banding looked pretty intense right after that (per hockey's post-pic)......guess they are just down (i hope)
will be interesting to see the microwave imagery after 330 utc (since convection popped in those bands 90 min after the time stamp on aric post)

I also am interested to see the satellite images after the eclipse. The greys are back on the last IR shot before the eclipse.

I truly do not expect to find any major differences, and her satellite signature as of late has becoming increasingly less impressive.

dominican republic , esp norther haiti may be getting a rude awakening in the wee hours.
anyone have a dominican radar (one se cuba site doesn't reach hanna , the other further se isn't updating since 1pm) and we have a stinking satelite eclipse
although the aviationweather site updated about 145 am (for me last nite) during the eclipse

DMax is through the over night hours peaking right around the time the sun comes up over the system

i did earlier but the banding features impressed me before the eclipse and even with the navy's image above it has a nice CDO

Why do you have a hard time believing that? The eye wall is almost closed off according to Microwave data well defined Banding deep convection almost right over the center.

Plunging southwestward
that's a pretty significant move to the SW, kind of similar to what the UKMET was calling for. If I were on the East Coast of Florida I'd still be watching this one very closely

I'm one of the four people that are...cheerio!
Hopefully my DirecTV is working in the morning. I need my local television.

yup it's sw but it isn't moving fast 530 utc imagery suggests it's driftin s or ssw still

i think this may get very close to NW haitian coast tomorrow morning. 1130 recon will be interesting and informative as usual.
heck it appears the center is about 70 or so miles N of haiti now

I have no faith in the UKmet.... but any move to the SW more than originally forecasted brings East central and North Florida more into the picture

on 6utc imagery you can see those shear plumes from gustav trying to make a return over hanna's NW side.................gustav let her go

Well, the satellite eclipse is over... but what on earth happened during the last 2 hrs?

Is this the sign of a possible RI cycle? I read a paper that before a RI cycle there is usually shedding of the outer rain bands but I doubt that too. Is it dry air? Maybe I'm just overreacting to something insignificant
