I think they may want to actually wait and see what Ike does before rollout...On second thought, just cancel it till November 30th...LOL...Wake me up when September ends!

We live right on the Neuse river, as in it's down a hill, about 75 feet from our back door. We moved here from Homestead/Miami. Went through Katrina, Wilma etc. down there. We still own our house down there (Don't you just love this housing market!) so we're watching all of the storms closely!

BTW, off topic, but I got to tour the NHC last year in September with my 8th grade students. It was a pretty impressive place. Really cool to get to go there after watching/reading them for so many years!

Yeah I am a little confused as to what to expect. I moved up from Boynton Beach Fl last year and went through the same fun as you down in solfa. All I can tell up here is that the Raleigh area got some pretty decent wind during Floyd... lots of trees down. I guess pines do not bend as well as palms. Power was out for a while and flooding occured around river basins. I am not going to perpare as I did in florida (2 weeks of everything) but will top off the car, gas cans, pantry.

Geeze Loiuse, thought that the 2pm track was bad for the OBX. 5pm is even worse, in fact that is the worse track any storm can take across the barrier islands. Up the sounds and on the east side of the center. With any luck next it will be east of the OBX and offshore. The 5pm track is truly scary, thank God it will only be a weak Cat 1 if it does take that track.

The new track put Hanna to the right of me or east. Do you think they will move it back to the west any more or will it keep going east?

I am not doing any preparations either. In my opinion this will not be as bad as expected. Too much work for nothing. A little wind a little rain. No big deal.

This kind of mentality is what causes many deaths in otherwise seemingly tepid storms. Not saying by any means you'll 'die' if you stay, but preparations should be on the top of your agenda for a storm that could very well be near the intensity of Isabel at landfall (don't know if you went through her or not).

don't insult me

take a deep breath

i was saying there is 48 hours till hanna hits anywhere (unless she goes out to sea)

and i meant to infer that pro-mets were probably looking at the latest forecasts with ike since this is supposed to be a major storm of category 3-5 (catostrophic damage) and that they will surely turn back to hanna later in the evening. i'm sorry you are upset, i didn't mean anything or the sort

Why on earth did you get upset about this post? They were simply trying to point out that a pro met would have to wade in on your question.

There's plenty of reasons to be legitimately upset about things that happen on the internet - no need to manufacture any.

Trending more westerly at least in it's path along Florida. At the 2pm it turned away from Florida way down by the islands but now is not making the turn northward until up around Jacksonville. This means more rain and wind for Central and Northern Florida.

well i would say that the forecast bend NW is of concern (reason to stay tuned for florida residents) especially if hanna turns and slows down a bit, although i don't know if that bend is due to track continuity and may actually shift more right unless hanna does indeed make the NW turn (as of 5 pm nhc still has her going due north at 10 mph)
