You Josh and us in Phx/Tuc may also have some incoming
showers as shown in the latest radar:

The breezes pick up as a band comes in, then it sprinkles a little, moves
away & gets quiet again. There is a line of heavier rain somewhat farther
south of us but it could rotate in within the next hour or so.
Conditions changed too: Temp=95F RH=31 DP=57-60 depending where in town
Didn't think NWS declared official Monsoon yet for Phx as there is nothing
on their website either, but the 'media' declared it which doesn't really count.

You enjoy the rain Josh..I used to live in SoCal and know how dry it is.Nice break for you...clears out the SMOG too..since its an offshore regime for now.You also may get more RA than we did...as the 'center' of Claudia dipped her feet in the warm waters(SSTs 83F+) of the Sea of Cortez just as she traversed the W Deserts S of Yuma.She rejuiced as I noticed the YUM area this AM.
We got a total of .35in RA..mostly in a 2 hr period just before sundown.The East side near Harrison Rd got .63in and Mt Lemmon .68 in with nice running water...no Flooding at all!That is great news.
I recorded a wind gust just as the NW Quad entered yesterday of 36mph with sustained 24mph all ESE.
Way too much Strata inhibted any major convection though.The atmosphere was very juicy..max DP was 68F however only an 85F sfc temp kept things nice,breezy and cool...A MAJOR difference from Wed when we hit 112F and nearby Marana hit 114F..TUS landed a 110F and DM AFB 111F..and dry..very windy with gusts of 35+.Nasty hot.This may have dried out Claudia's homecoming too..and let's face it...she had been partying and having too much fun in Chihuahua and Sonora to have much left..the 'Hungover Hurricane' just teased us.
However...this is the major Atmos Change than I alluded to last week..and now we are in a full-on 'Classic' Monsoonal Pattern.So..I thank Claudia for the gift.
Looking good too is our air quality..best I've seen in a Month as the Aspen Fire had us locked in with smoke and ash.NW TUS is now all scoured out and buffed..looks great!The fire..thankfully 100% ocntained with cool temps Max to 79F up on the Lemmon.Residents of Summerhaven did finally return yesterday to dig thru the rubble and make tough decisions.
It was an interesting day all around.
M2..yes those are associated with 'remnant' Troppy Debris.They were indeed 'ripped' mostly by the the Mountains from Mx inbound.Those were at one time 'bands' with imbedded Convection.I have seen many and can actually refire severe wx if the 'bump' is there in the atmos..great for Pix albums.I enjoy also intact bands from GOC/EPAC troppy systems..they are usually intact due to a rather static warm water (N Sea of Cortez) feed and they come in from the relatively flat SSW.

Kahuna..I do believe this may be a good chase season if not stellar.Good Hunting!

Not a drop up this way. Had to be satisified in watching it all from a distance. Claudette did clear the air and add miles and miles of visibility today...and for that we are grateful.
The monsoon flow, as you mentioned DJ, seems to have arrived in earnest thanks to Claudy girl. Let's hope we can crank up some good ones in the days ahead...everywhere but the vicinity of the Aspen Fire!

Azskyman, you've got some incoming up the road a bit from Fountain
Hills - so you may get a nice storm. We're out of the rain field so nada
down the road here.
All in all - I think the monsoon has gone around the Phoenix area all
together. Will it ever rain here this year - gulleywashers I mean. Cloudbursts.
Open up the sky and drench for an hour bursts....
Vbhoutex: you've got to move it a little to the North kiddo - about 100 miles
or so!!!! Kick that hip out further and do the hula - the Hawaiian Rain Dance.
Heck even Dennis got rain so we're the only ones who are waiting in the
Valley of the Potato Chips for some relief. :o
I need a road trip....to see some real storms. Thank God it's the Weekend.
