This is the general tropical discussion area. Anyone can take their shot at predicting a storms path.

Our local meteorologists say this is a combination of a tropical wave and upper level trough. It's overcast and cool and has been raining here since about 5:00 a.m. We also had some of lightning and thunder last night and earlier today. A lovely change from the oppressive heat and humidity of the last few weeks.

OK Tkanks abajan , seems that convection is popping nicely directly on your island so it's credible to experience this weather's change...

Hey my friends from the carib, things are really heating up...because our Pro Met of Meteo-France has put an yellow alert for us in Guadeloupe for a risk of strong showers and thunderstorms. I will keep you informed but tommorow we should experience a noticeable change in the weather ( sad, dark and pretty rainy).

Thanks Gustywind! Keep us informed. If we didn't have you we all had to start learning french as Meteo-France is only in french, and is the only reliable source around here. :double:

No problem my friend , i'm glad to read that, i'm proud if i can be informative :). So for you in Dominica, things will be wet too, according to Meteo France ( i translate the forecast in english for you as possible). :)
Synopsis
A perturbed area has begun to affect the half south of the Lesser Antilles these last hours. This area should race steadily near Guadeloupe before the end of the day, with a strong convective activity ( rains and thunderstorms).
Before this, this sunday, we can see numerous showers beginning to affect us sporadically.
ForecastsThe risk to see strong showers and thunderstorms for tonight et tommorow Monday is REAL. This bad weather classical for the season afterwards, should stay during 24h or 36 hours.
We expect during 24h approximately 60 millimeters or much more. Near the stronger squalls, gustywinds ( not me lol  :cheesy: ) at 40kts could be observed...Next weather forecast at 530 PM.
Nice regards from Gustywind the niciest gust of the wind :cheesy:
Moreover, as winds are abbating a bit maybe we could feel more the effects of this strong pertubed area, bear watching !:http://cimss.ssec.wisc.edu/tropic/real-time/atlantic/winds/wg8sht.html

Wow, I’m sure glad we don’t normally get the big storms, like Ike…my prayers go out to everybody in Ike’s path…

We got more rain through the night, just over an inch, which isn’t a lot, but when our average rainfall is only about 40 inches a year, we are happy for it…we can hear lots of thunder far off this morning, it’s overcast with dark clouds appearing to the east of us…presumably we are going to have a wet day as the wave continues to make it’s way through…hopefully this one won’t build up into anything nasty as it moves west and north…

Interresting report here :) from this correspondant, both islands are experiencing this strong twave...http://stormcarib.com/reports/c ... cent.shtml

Hi folks - a quick update from Trinidad. The thunder started rumbling since yesterday. I didn't get to check back the satellite images and I wish I had because I would have warned my family and friends. The thunderstorms began aroung 12:15. Rain, rain, and LOTS OF RAIN. Power went down almost immediately, followed by our water supply. I wish I had my camera to show you the raging waters right outside. The house next door had at least 4ft of water in the yard. The streets are inundated. Many rivers have burst their banks in west Trinidad based on my checking in with friends and family. Even elevated homes have new found swimming pools. The winds in the first set of storms were strong. After about a 20 minute lull, the rain returned, but mostly gusts. Strong. I think gusts to about 25mph. Possibly stronger. Counter direction. Hmmmm.... :?:
After 94L passed, we had a terrible bout with ITCZ two days later, which caused widespread flooding and millions of dollars more in losses of crops, livestock, and property. I await to see the news. To the other islanders out there - Keep Safe!
