Where is your favorite beach??

#1 Postby JetMaxx » Fri Jul 18, 2003 9:39 pm

It's summer vacation time, and I was wondering...where is your favorite beach?

I actually have two....

1) New Smyrna Beach, Florida....where my mom and dad were planning to retire to before her death at age 41. Mom always loved New Smyrna Beach, and so do I. It would be perfect....a great beach, and only a few miles from Daytona International Speedway :)

2) The Central Oregon Coast around Newport and Lincoln City. Rugged and beautiful....the perfect beach to explore nature, and relax with long, quiet walks :)

What about you?

Since I grew up on this beach, I will have to say Siesta Key Beach in Sarasota, FL. Venice beach in Venice FL ranks a close second. No matter how old I get I still love to find sharks teeth and Venice has tons of em.

I'm a fan of the beach on Coronado Island across the bay from San Diego. Headed to Maui in September....have a feeling I won't give that bad marks either!

I haven't been to many beaches. I lived fifteen miles west and about twenty or so miles north of the Atlantic Ocean in southeastern Massachusetts... went to the beach sometimes. One of my brother's and his wife live several yards from the Atlantic; due east of where I (we both) lived.

One thing I want to do is get out of the Eastern Time Zone for at least a week.

Come to Topeka, Tom! It's really really fun! (Sarcasm)

Since i've only been to Courpus Christi, TX, that's the beach i'd have to say I like the most.

Destin, Florida beaches are the best I have seen. The water is prettier there too.

Pipeline, North shore Oahu. Also Makaha (where I broke my arm in the six foot shore breakers..... went over the falls on my kneeboard) :38: Rock on!

I don't have a favorite, but I've been fortunate to experience many different ones such as Bermuda, Barbados, Riviera Maya, MX, of course the Jersey shore beaches, Wildwood, Ocean City (those don't even compare to those tropical locales), in NY - Jones Beach, Fire Island and Smith's Point.

I used to take swimming lessons on the North Shore of Long Island, NY at a beach called Long Beach. The beach faced Long Island Sound and on a clear day, you could see Connecticut. It was rocky, and at low tide there would be all kinds of horseshoe crabs and sea weed. I think that beach holds a special place in my heart. :D

I'd have to say Maui or Kauai also. Not Waikii (sp?) though - too touristy!!! You have to see it once though. Wish I had gone to the North Shore on Oahu! I was there twice and both times, never got up there. Just one of my traveling regrets......

I have been to Saint Augustine (east coast) once and Cedar Key, Florida (west coast) twice in the last three years. Both times were when my siblings and their spouses were down (two different times, of course).

We didn't spend much time in Saint Augustine, but we did have lunch at one of the restuarants, outside on the beach.

If you get the cance, take it. the north shore is far less touristy and it is really beautiful. And best of all, it doesn't take anytime at all to get there from honolulu. Also take a fulll tour around the Island on the kamahamaha Highway, and up on H3, breathtaking beauty hidden in the center of the island forsure.

Tom, I often go to St Augustine beach (it is pretty close to me) I enjoy St Augustine very much, espescially the historical section. If you ever go there again, you have to try the fudge from the specialist candy maker there, it is to die for :D

My favourite beach has to be Umghlanga in South Africa, beautiful rock pools and great surf.
