FireBird wrote:Hi folks - a quick update from Trinidad. The thunder started rumbling since yesterday. I didn't get to check back the satellite images and I wish I had because I would have warned my family and friends. The thunderstorms began aroung 12:15. Rain, rain, and LOTS OF RAIN. Power went down almost immediately, followed by our water supply. I wish I had my camera to show you the raging waters right outside. The house next door had at least 4ft of water in the yard. The streets are inundated. Many rivers have burst their banks in west Trinidad based on my checking in with friends and family. Even elevated homes have new found swimming pools. The winds in the first set of storms were strong. After about a 20 minute lull, the rain returned, but mostly gusts. Strong. I think gusts to about 25mph. Possibly stronger. Counter direction. Hmmmm.... :?:
After 94L passed, we had a terrible bout with ITCZ two days later, which caused widespread flooding and millions of dollars more in losses of crops, livestock, and property. I await to see the news. To the other islanders out there - Keep Safe!

Excellent report my friend, tkanks , waouw nasty episode in Barbados apparently... DO not forget that winds had verred a bit ssw in Barbados, so not a pimpy wave but very strong with robust gusts! Keep safe, but tonight or tommorow we should feel the effects of this strong wave, let's see what really happens with this!

Strong SSW winds accompanied by lots of rain aren't that unusual when tropical waves and troughs combine in our region. So I won't read too much into it.
Thus far, we've had quite a bit of rain (though not heavy) from this system. I wonder how much more tonight has in store for us. :?:
