Where is Ed, THAT concerns me :) must be out buying the Shiner ROCK! j/k .. Seriously, looking at the models it is the opposite of the more recent storms (Gustav/Fay) everyone says West during the day East at night..

I still don't like the fact that we (Houstonians) are to the East of this thing and there is an eventual HOOK in the pattern North :)

I also saw Joe Bastardi on Fox tonight he seemed petty matter of fact about his "Scenario 2" Mid texas gulf coast hit. This scenarion was more likley, at least that is what I got out of it. He also postulated that a LA and WAY south Texas hit is possible. So who knows at this stage..

Well time to call it a night, and get up tomorrow and start all over again. My advice to you guys to my west is to get some rest. Not enough changes will occur this evening to make a huge difference. You may need your rest for later in the week. I hope not, and at this point who really knows, but need to be prepared in case.

Peace Out and God Bless Until Tomorrow

I've asked this before but I don't think anyone responded - with Lowell's forecasted track in the EPAC, what effect could that have on Ike's track?

I would think it would be northward.

Just curious why we need to monitor the progress of Ike here in South Florida?

makes no sense to me...we may see some gusts up to 30mph. Big deal...no worries here :)

when all is said and done, its possible Florida and other states in the GOM may closely watch Ike only to see him pass by well to the south..perhaps clipping southern Texas..

What a break it would be for the US should Ike completely miss the US...given where it originated from

I am watching things from East TX tonight. We are headed back to Deer Park tomorrow. Storm2K is the greatest.

Southwest Houston checking in. I've been on for most of the day. I have a question for any one who reads this:

Did the models veer south partly because of the weakening of the storm? Does it come down to a matter of which is stronger - Ike or the Ridge? Is it possible that with the predicted strengthening of the storm, the models will move back north again?

I JUST want to know what this stupid storm is going to do!! I have to take the M.A.T. on Saturday morning - I paid 70.00 for it!!

Well, as Charley proved, hurricanes sometimes do what they want. Given Ike's close proximity to the Keys and south Florida, a northward move that is unexpected could bring them some nasty weather.

I realize that is not going to happen - and I think they do too - but still, you have to cover your bases given the proximity.

Probably waiting til it gets past Cuba, nothing dramatic is gonna happen tonight anyway.

Nice to know I'm not the only Texan here.

No, not the only texan-even though I'm north Texas. I have family interests in Denham Springs - 12 miles east of
Baton Rouge - so I watch closely because I lived there for most of my life and sister and parents are still there.

I think this is going to enter the Gulf.

Curious how much better that eye will get from the water it has under it.

Soon it will become a running joke...ike will be making landfall all the way in (you know where....yep, there)) this weekend and the advisory will still say INTERESTS IN SOUTH FLORIDA AND THE YUCATAN PENINSULA SHOULD MONITOR
THE PROGRESS OF IKE.

I'm starting to think Ike may never make a US landfall and I wouldn't be surprised to see the areas south of brownsville into northern mexico as a final destination.

Sabanic probably meant the only non-Texan here. He's in Alabama. There's so many Texans in here, if you swung a cat by the tail, you'd hit about 3 dozen.

May indicate that the trough, in the end, will turn Ike to the right just before ladfall. I still don't see Ike outrunning the trough and subsequent ridge erosion & plowing into the S. Texas coast. JMO.

0Z models tonight will be very interesting.
