Re: ATL JOSEPHINE: Remnants - Discussion
Hmm this reminds me of Katrina when it dissapated in the mid Atlantic then convection formed again over Puerto Rico then became a tropical storm in the Bahamas in the last second even a hurricane so maybe the NHC could put a Code yellow(Low probability of tropical formation)tonight?

In this link it will show you the Atlantic loop and on the right you can see some flare up in rain, and convection even!Look at the blob cloud and you can see the outer part of the blob kinda of forming bands or strait clouds that indicates there is convection.

The closed surface ciruclation is gone. Its now an open trough. Not sure what the NHC would do with this.
Even though, J's remnant low has opened up into a trough, as long as the surface feature maintains continuity (i.e doesn't completely dissipate), then in the unlikely event it spun back up, it would still be called Josephine.

It could wind up a center if it flares tonight and stays far enough from Ike's outflow. That convection flare will let you know.

I'm thinking if something develops it probably won't be from Josephine's remnants but rather something may form over time from a persistent trough of low pressure in that region....

Would think that the NHC at least MENTIONS this (area NE of PR) in their next TWO, maybe a code yellow?

Hm, ick, I thought this was farther north
Hurakan, is there somewhere on the site or elsewhere that I could learn more about understanding shear maps?

That's the set up. Josephine lays low until Ike gets into Texas and then blooms right in front of Florida or maybe in the Straits.

Not one storm has completely advoided land this season as a storm until Josephine. I'm thinking he is feeling lefted out.

Not to mention feeling miffed at being called "he."

But the point is very good - we haven't had any fishies yet this year. Will she stay far enough from Ike's outflow to develop?
