It is quite laughable as it blows it back to a strong Cat 1 hurricane over the middle Great Lakes...

Wow I better buy plywood before everyone else in Toronto does :P

It puts something like 75-80 kt winds over Lake Michigan...which I find pretty hard to believe. The pressure would remain in the 970s or lower the entire way up which is almost impossible. That would create catastrophic flooding in the middle Mississippi Valley and the Ozarks as well...

Galveston PIER is GONE. Already. Wow. This will be something.

You have to watch this in another window constantly. A guy in a bear suit is walking into the water and they have interviewed a few people who REFUSE to leave and think this is going to be "fun" SAD, They are more than likely going to be gone by tom morning. So many people are REFUSING to leave. What is it with LA coast residents and tx coast residents? I just don't understand.

CNN interviewing a guy in galveston who refuses to evacuate with a family of 16...including children....he says he is in a 6-story building so he is fine. He is more than prepared with water and food and generators. Windows boarded up....and 'this is not his first rodeo.'

Yes and it could get much worse.

I fortunately made it to the station just in time...gas was still $3.65, but was at $3.99 across the street  .

I drove from North Carolina to Virginia last night, and I noticed some stations were 25-30 cents higher than others within blocks of one another. Luckily, my "favorite" station on the highway closes at 6 p.m. (but they leave their pumps on 24 hours a day), so I was able to fill up on the "cheaper" price ($3.55/gallon for plus). I notice that plus is over $4/gallon right now here in Charlottesville, VA. Crazy.

And this doesn't qualify as child endangerment? You can get a ticket for not having your kid buckled in the car, but not for making them sit through a Cat2/3 hurricane?

I was literally the last person to get $3.33 when I filled up yesterday afternoon - it was at $3.63 when I drove by the same station this morning

100% agree...keeping children in a mandatory evac zone....negligence and neglect for sure...even if not under the technical legal definition.

if he wants to be a cowboy, let him stay....it is the defenseless children i worry most about. although he did not come out and say it, the interviewer clearly was in shock by this guys responses.

Arkansas Governor declared State of Emergency to stop price gouging on gasoline.

One convenience store nearby is already out of gas.
