It's a good thing Ike didn't show this kind of organization trend 24 hours ago. I fully expect him to be a strengthening Cat 3 as it is, and that angle he's taking on the Bay just isn't good.

By that look it looks that it maybe wobbling back to the West or just a dgree north of west

He's really stair stepping now. I just hope this step to the west ends soon.

Reporter on national news network just said, '1 more mph folks and we have a major hurricane, just 1 more mile'.

I do not know how long power will remain on as the power lines run through the woods near by, but I'll try to post updates later if possible.

Hi txag,

Just want you to know that there are people thinking about you and hoping desperately that things work out as well as possible for you, and everyone else in harms way, all over this little planet called Earth at present.

Wind gusts reaching 40+ here in Lafayette. Just had a nasty squall in the area. We've got a rainband prompting tornado warnings. Looks like we're getting some dirty side weather.

It sure looks to me like the wind speed in the eyewall is ramping up.

I don't think so, like in the NW side the eye is contracting leaving a dry slot. This will likely fill up very soon.

Given the length of that loop and the size of the eye its a little hard to tell about the motion and movement direction.

Has anyone heard anything about the rescue attempt of the people on that disabled freighter that was south of galveston earlier today? Last I heard, this afternoon, coast guard was going out there. Thanks.

OMG take those kids home PLEASE! KHOU interviewing looky-lous. It's this type stuff that might encourage others to do the same. What a great way to teach your kids to die.

Conditions were too bad, so they aborted the rescue mission
