I started walking out, was smirking about how calm it seemed to be. By the time I was half way up the road, about 500 metres, I was completely soaked, but the wind wasn't that bad. By the time I got to the store and turned around, the wind was so bad that I, a 200 lb man, was being gently pushed. Not enough to put me off track, but enough for me to notice.
The rain started coming in sheets, and it pounded the pavement in torrents. As I got to my house, I looked up at the light and noticed the wind was whipping the rain around the side of the house very powerfully.
I got so wet that my boxers are soaked through my pants. My shirt is damp through my sweater.
Kyle is the real deal, folks. I doubt there will be tons of damage, but there will be some, and the winds are probably approaching sustained 35-40 kt and gusts to over 50-55 kt.
I was chatting with the people across the street the evening before Ike hit. It was getting breezy, and there had been some sprinkles. We started seeing power line flashes in the distance a few minutes before the wind starting to pick up and the steady rain began. When it did, I went inside, watched local TV, and went to bed about the same time the lights went out. Had several power dips in the house before the lights finally went. Good news, even if your power does quit, I'd guess late September in Canada the weather is perfect for sleeping w/ the windows open. You probably don't even run your AC at night when the power is on now that its Autumn.
Kyle is moving pretty fast, your weather should get better in a couple of hours, I'd guess.

Here you go Kyle, I didn't forget!!
The East Pac is only a third of the Pacific roughly, less than that if you count the South Pacific.
And the East Pac is still winning (and even if one counted the supposedly frontal warm core Carolina storm, would still be tied).

Does anyone know the weather conditions in Digby, Nova Scotia? We have friends right on the Bay of Fundy. They went offline several hours ago. Don't expect it to be too bad but they are up on a hill right on the coast.
Thanks,
Lynn

I don't know specifically what, if any damages in Digby... but nearby on Brier Island, the highest wind gust I could find was 68 km/h ( 43mph ) and that was around 7pm AT, the lowest barometric pressure at this site was 994mb at around 11pm AT. As of this time, all Wind Warnings have ended in Digby, though brisk west winds are continuing to affect the western coastline of Nova Scotia.

Soon after I made that post, the thunderstorms became quite severe and (despite my computer being connected through a UPS surge protector) lightning destroyed my modemabajan wrote:It's unbelievable how quickly the weather here has deteriorated today. Most of the day was pretty much fair and now it's overcast and raining heavily with frequent peals of thunder that are getting louder with time.
