I am still not so sure I'm going to like Desperate Housewives after tonight's season premiere or not.
I'm clearly the type of fan that can become VERY attached and devoted to specific characters (best example right now? Jack on Lost)......so when it appears as if something ~terrible~ happens to Mike, this fan's faith in this show was shaken at the end of last season.
So much so that I declared that I may or may not come back to this show.
We'll see......I HATE when they tweak a show this much.
You expect major plot twists on a show such as Lost. But not on a show like Desperate Housewives.
They should change the title to - Desperate Measures or Desperate Storylines!
Okay, okay....my pre-viewing rant is over.....he he

You're on your own with cable shows!

Just to clarify here, Mike is not gone from the show completely. He will still be around in some episodes(there will be flashbacks to what happened with Susan and Mike also).
But I do see your point. I was never really that obsessed with Mike. I was upset when they killed Rex(way back when) and I never thought of giving up the show.

LOL! Well I liked Rex too but it was early on in the show's run so I didn't want to abandon ship. Now I'm considering doing so because of so many reasons, not just Mike but I also liked the scenes with the Scavo kids. Sigh......I should probably trust the writers this will be a good idea. Seems risky though. Why ruin a good thing? They changed the setting, letting go of old characters, adding new ones with Weeds' last season. So much so that fans hated this past season. Just hated it! But anyway, I'm getting off track. I'll at least see if I like this new DH season or not.

Hmmmm... that was a bit weird but very good. It had something that seasons 2-4 premieres didn't. Love the mysteries. Oh and Edie's new husband looks creepy which helps.

I thought this episode was quite humorous. Gabrielle making Juanita run after the car and then Juanita (who is exactly like her mom) hops on the bus! Gabrielle telling Carlos that Juanita ate 1/2 a sheetcake. The Scavo boys and their poker game...lol and when Tom kicked the sideview mirror off his prized car and said, "It had a scratch on it and i've got another one on order". Katherine making Bree do the spun sugar thingy...knowing she couldn't do it. And we know Bree won't give up until she masters it.
Now they've set up alot of storylines that made me curious. Edie's husband with his chilling grin and what's with that doctor at the end? Orson showing up at the end in the kitchen doorway? There's more but i'm watching Brothers & Sisters now.

'Grey's,' 'Survivor' and 'Office' premiere ratings drop
UPDATED: Every season premiere Thursday night drew a lower rating than last fall, as returning favorites such as ABC's "Grey's Anatomy," CBS' "Survivor" and NBC's "The Office" tripped across the board.
ABC firmly won the night, as expected. Its two-hour fifth season premiere of "Grey's Anatomy" (18.5 million viewers, 7.4 national adults 18 to 49 rating and an 18 share) was the evening's highest-rated and most-watched show, with each half hour growing in the Nielsens. Yet "Grey's" was down 17% from last fall’s one-hour opener. Lead-in "Ugly Betty" (9.8 million, 3.3/9) slipped 15%, marking its lowest-rated debut to date.
Despite being the only network to air a repeat in its Thursday lineup, CBS managed to place second for the night. The network ran the first-ever HD edition of "Survivor" in the show's first-ever two-hour debut (13.1 million, 4.5/11). "Survivor" fell 10% from last fall to a new premiere low, but won 8 p.m. By pushing "Survivor" into 9 p.m., the most intensely competitive hour of the week, CBS created a new DVR-busting dilemma for viewers, forcing some to make a tough call and vote one of their returning favorites off their dual-tuner TiVos.*
What's impressive about "Survivor" is the reality series held its entire demo rating through its second hour as it went from the 8 p.m. frying pan into the 9 p.m. fire. At 10 p.m., CBS aired a "CSI" encore.
NBC was third, airing one-hour editions of "My Name Is Earl" (6.4 million, 2.7/8, down 29%) and "The Office" (9.3 million, 4.9/12, down 4%). Note "Earl" dropped the most of all the returning shows and "The Office" dropped the least. At 10 p.m., NBC aired the final season premiere of "ER" (8 million, 3.3/8, down 20% to a new premiere low).
Fox was fourth with two episodes of "Kitchen Nightmares" (4.2 million, 1.9/5 and 4.5 million, 2.1/5). In fifth, the CW had the second-week airings of "Smallville" (4.2 million, 1.7/5), dropping only slightly from last week, and "Supernatural" (3.2 million, 1.3/3), which fell more steeply (-23%).

I'm sorry guys but I'm sincerely disappointed in this new DH season and that the writers chose to move so far forward in time. 5 years is just too much. Yes there were endearing moments tonight, Gabby finally seems "real" to me, as Lynette has always seemed genuine, a housewife that you can relate to. I can finally relate to Gabby. Sad to see Carlos, still blind though. Yawned thru Bree and Katherine's antics (sorry Brent, just can't get that excited about their bickering....LOL).
I don't know...maybe I'll feel better about this season if I give it a few more episodes.
Just never thought I'd be bored by a Desperate Housewife season or entire episode!

Ratings: Football Carries NBC Again Sunday
'Desperate Housewives' is the night's top show, but NBC's stronger overall
September 29, 2008
Fast National ratings for Sunday, Sept. 28, 2008
ABC got a solid premiere from "Desperate Housewives" Sunday night, but it wasn't enough to dislodge NBC from the top of the ratings heap.
NBC scored an 8.2 rating/13 share for the night (which may change some because of its live NFL telecast), narrowly beating ABC's 7.8/12. CBS, 6.9/11, finished third, while FOX, which also had some live sports, drew a 6.4/10. The CW was way back at 0.9/1.
In the adults 18-49 demographic, NBC's 5.2 rating led the way. FOX, 4.6, beat out ABC, 4.4, for second. CBS drew a 2.6, and The CW fell below the 1.0 mark.
Late-afternoon NFL games and "The OT" combined for a 9.5/16 on FOX at 7 p.m. CBS took second with NFL overruns "60 Minutes," 7.7/13. The season premiere of "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition," 4.5/8, put ABC in third, ahead of "Football Night in America," 3.8/7, on NBC. The CW aired a "One Tree Hill" repeat.
NBC took the lead at 8 p.m. with "Sunday Night Football," 9.2/14. "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" rose to 7.4/11 on ABC. The conclusion of "60 Minutes" and the season premiere of "The Amazing Race" scored a 6.2/10 for CBS. Premieres of "The Simpsons," 5.6/9, and "King of the Hill," 4.2/6, were fourth overall for FOX and second in the 18-49 demo. The CW went with "Privileged."
At 9 p.m., the "Desperate Housewives" premiere delivered an 11.4/17, down some from last season's premiere but still good enough to top NBC's NFL broadcast, 10.1/15. "The Amazing Race" and "Cold Case" averaged 7.3/11 for CBS. "Family Guy," 5.5/9, and "American Dad," 4.2/6, held steady for FOX, while The CW finished its night with "America's Next Top Model."
NBC reclaimed the lead at 10 p.m. with its coverage of the Chicago Bears-Philadelphia Eagles game, 9.5/15. "Brothers & Sisters" debuted to an 8.0/13 on ABC, while "Cold Case" and "The Unit" delivered a 6.2/10 for CBS.
-Yesterday’s Winners:
Football Overrun (Fox), The OT (Fox), Football Night in America – 8 p.m. (NBC), Sunday Night Football (NBC), Desperate Housewives (ABC)

I'm really excited about the second season of Chuck. Critics have said tonight's premiere is as good as the show was before the strike last year.
So on that note, it sounds like it will be a great episode!

I'm excited for Chuck also, but I'm expecting very bad ratings. It's been off the air since January and Heroes is doing pretty bad, so Chuck will do worse than it.

Top 25 for last week, DH is the top scripted show again, and above it's spring post-strike numbers.
viewers' revenge; we are p***ed. . . . you think they are bad now, wait until the aftermath of the SAG's strike. . .

btw. . . what's going with the actor's strike?
The last time I checked SAG was having an election, there was in-fighting in the union and fighting between SAG and AFTRA. . . has the AMPTP and SAG even talked about a new contract?

I haven't even heard anything about a SAG strike in weeks, but last time I did there was no support for a strike. I do not see one anytime soon. They lost all their leverage.
Actually, here we go, more negotiations may start soon:
