In September, you can almost guarantee the winner will be a hurricane or typhoon.

Yep, it's been one heck of a month for China, Hong Kong and Taiwan in terms of typhoon landfalls and Jangmi was just an incredible storm.

Gotta go with Ike. Worst winds I've ever seen in my life. And I'm in Pittsburgh! Also, probably going to be the costliest storm to ever hit Ohio.

I'd have to vote for Ike too. We had a massive blackout in Cincinnati. 90% of our electric company's (Duke) customers lost power. Many for a few days, some for a week! We lost power for 19 hours but the impact of many tree limbs down, cost a few lives, damaged many homes, cars destroyed, thousands of dollars in spoiled food, residential and commercial, etc. We had traffic lights out forever it seemed like. Many drivers would just avoid certain intersections because you took your life in your hands trying to drive thru a busy 4 way - many drivers didn't even slow down! It was chaos to say the least....nothing like the Gulf region but way the heck up here in Ohio, we never thought we'd see sustained hurricane force winds at times, for 3+ HOURS!

Kind of wishing I'd given my vote to Hanna. After Gustav lost in August I felt I had to vote Ike but 500+ deaths is difficult to ignore....

Ike was big, but Jangmi, by far, best satellite presentation of any cyclone this year.
