One thing you can always count on in florida...warm always wins out. The cold may make itself known for a short time, but the latitude, sun angle, and warm ocean don't allow the cold to make itself at home...esp from orlando south.
Even after the frigid Christmas of 1989...a landmark cold snap still 19 years later... temps were back around 80 deg a week later on New Year's Day in Miami. Tourists still could go home with a tan if they came for vacation that week (January 1990 went on to average over 5 deg above normal).

This isn't lucky at all, I was born in Miami and lived my whole life down here in SE FL and I'm tired of these 90F + summer weather and weak winters. If only I could have a lick of some snow or below freezing weather down here, then I'd call us lucky. Just my opinion though, some like having sun burns and sweating all the time.

Re: Florida Weather Thread: Warming trend
No doubt the local Chambers of Commerce , the agriculture industry, and even tourism industry are praying for a sunny and warm winter to boost the economy....picture the mile or 2 of outdoor cafes on miami beach...they don't do well when it is raining or 40 degrees...and neither does the staff they employ. Neither would the farmers who would be crippled economically by a killing freeze.
Let's leave the ice to keep the poolside drinks cool!
