Ed, the problem with this system is that the convection has been intermittent. It has developed convection in the last few days for a few hours and then it becomes completely exposed for a day, then convection comes back, and dissipates again.

The cloud cluster near 30N 36W had a good circulation;something clearly non tropical at this time .But it's in the 26°C sea temperature , 20Kts shear,but decreasing...A future subtropical storm???

oK Luis; i was certaimly asleep...but this is a commemorative day in France( and for us as french over seas depatement ): the end of war 1914-1918,where natives of Guadeloupe ded also,like a lot of americans..So this is a holiday...

Convection, while mostly East of the center, looks persistent enough to me to qualify as a sub-TD.


But it is all rather academic, except if people need one more storm for some kind of preseason storm number pool.

Doesn't look too bad right now, there's a fair amount of convection to the east of the center. Who knows, maybe it'll start to wrap around.

Looks like a sub-tropical depression to me.

Badly sheared, but I've seen them look worse.
