Something brewiong near 30N 36W?
The cloud cluster near 30N 36W had a good circulation;something clearly non tropical at this time .But it's in the 26°C sea temperature , 20Kts shear, but decreasing...A future subtropical storm???

Convection, while mostly East of the center, looks persistent enough to me to qualify as a sub-TD.
But it is all rather academic, except if people need one more storm for some kind of preseason storm number pool.

Looks like a sub-tropical depression to me.
Badly sheared, but I've seen them look worse.

STS Nicole

Of course, a strictly amateur opinion, and as stated above, strictly academic.

A SLOW-MOVING AREA OF LOW PRESSURE LOCATED ABOUT 850 MILES SOUTHWEST
OF THE AZORES IS PRODUCING A FEW SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS.
UPPER-LEVEL WINDS ARE EXPECTED TO INCREASE DURING THE NEXT DAY OR
SO...AND DEVELOPMENT OF THIS SYSTEM IS NOT EXPECTED.
