Severe warning for Colorado County, but the cells weaken a bit as they cross the outflow boundary/pseudo cold front (mentioned by both SPC and NWS HGX) near I-10.


Don't think there has been too much hail contamination of radar storm totals. Flooding could be a big problem in HOU area if that band continues to only slowly shift South and Eastward.

I wouldn't ever ignore a tornado warning.


However, there is about a 10ºF drop in temps and almost as big a drop in dewpoints across the outflow boundary, so that cell, if tornadic now, may become elevated soon.



But, again, it'd be stupid to take a chance when under an NWS warning from people trained to operate and interpret the WSR-88D.

On the other hand, if the tornadic cell starts right hand deviating (as some supercells do) and tracks more East to East-Northeastward, along the enhanced spin provided by the outflow boundary/pseudo stationary front, that tornado might last a while.


ETA:
No, the cell continued Northeast, and what was clear indication of rotation is weakening now as the storm is near Lake Conroe.

But that outflow boundary could trigger another brief spin up as any stronger cell approaches it.

That line looks nasty! those along the TX coastline are gonna have a rough night. I think they were a bit late calling the slight risk for tonight.

No reports yet of an actual tornado, but watching the radar, the suspect area went right over my son's house in Cypress. Haven't heard from them yet so I would guess all is well. But we definitely have some very strong storms in the North part of Harris County and also to our West which still haven't made it here. I guess I'll still be up for a while!!!

Exciting night where I live, both that NW Montgomery Country Tornado warning, and that recent Northern Harris county Tornado warning are within 20 miles of where I live. That one in Harris is heading through some very populated areas, hopefully nothing touches down.

Storming like crazy right now, haven't had anything this fun in several months.

There's yet to be an update, but if there's a tornado touching down, it will be moving across the NE Houston 'burbs. Anybody in NE Harris, N Chambers or S Liberty Counties should take precautions NOW.

12:01am doppler indicated tornado near Spring, TX according to the update just sent out via NWS Houston. A TORNADO MAY BE ON THE GROUND...TAKE COVER NOW!
