Stabbed woman fires at attacker in Houston apartment

A woman was stabbed several times today after her attacker forced his way into her northwest Houston apartment by breaking through the sheetrock wall from a vacant unit, police said.

The woman, identified by neighbors as Angela Livingston, 46, was sleeping about 11 a.m. when a man came though the narrow hole in the wall at her apartment in the 3400 block of West Little York, police said.

Although she was stabbed several times during the struggle, Livingston managed to grab her gun and fire two or three shots at the man, who then fled, police said.

Neighbor Dana Brooks said he saw Livingston sitting on the front steps leading to the apartment. She was bleeding from the stab wounds. .

"She's real nice. She's never been in any trouble," Brooks said. "I hope they catch the guy."

Livingston was taken to Ben Taub General Hospital. Her condition is not available.

The motive for the attack remains under investigation although police suspect it might have been a burglary attempt.
