First snow of the season in Philadelphia/Southern NJ area

We had a Winter Weather Advisory until 11:00 am this morning. In Chester and Delaware Counties in PA the snow was sticking to the roads. They were expecting 2 maybe 4 inches in the heavier band in Chester County. I had about an inch of snow, but it's pretty much all melted. A little bit of slush was on the driveway and patio.

Your "first" snow of the season. Do you know how foreign that sounds to those of us in the south? I'm still waiting for my first inch of snow in a decade, I think. Maybe longer.

We had about 2 inches in Blue Bell but as I got closer to Philly the lawns were just white, roads were wet. Last night going home from work was really pretty.

This is the second time we've gotten snow, but the first time it amounted to anything. Can't wait for the real good stuff to come!

BTW, we do get the occasional hurricane here Floyd was fun to drive thru...NOT!

I can't even imagine a winter that's not cold and has no snow, though we've had many relatively snowless winters. To me, it's either "let it snow" or bring me back to spring!

I can't even imagine living the horrors of the past few hurricane seasons down where you are. It's pretty interesting how each area of the country has it own severe season. Snow can be pretty, but when you're hit with a 20+ snow fall or an ice storm, it can be pretty hazardous in it's own right.

Well, we get cold sometimes. We don't see 90's and hitting 80 would be a rare thing. lol
Highs in the 50's or 60's are fairly common, with periods of much colder temps. Last night, we reached a bone-chilling 33° and it's now only 54°
Actually, it gets cold enough for snow quite often, and even many days where it's cold enough that it wouldn't melt. We just have a real problem with precip (that is usually plentiful) and timing. But of course, it's nowhere near as cold down here as it is up there.

As for the hurricanes, I have to believe there will be a looooooooooong break. 3 hurricanes and 1 tropical storm (2 of them being horrific and devastating) in just under 3 years is insane. We haven't had that much activity in such a short time, ever, that I know about.

I hope you have a nice winter, free of the hazards winter weather can bring.
