I'm glad that they've captured some and killed some of the other terrorists. It's ashame that all of them weren't killed.

Those poor victims. :(

we should go for 100,000 for every American killed

if another country has a problem with our counter terrorism, then let them join the dead on the battlefield.

We must make terrorism so costly that nobody would even dare to commit an act ever again

they do it to us and it has worked in their favor before. Got Spain out of Iraq very quickly.

I could not care any less about having the moral hgh ground or "looking better" than the terrorists. I do care about being victorious and protecting American citizens around the world. If another conquest of Canaan is required to do so, so be it. They will just kill us anyways

That is unspeakably evil, Derek, and a total reflection of what's wrong in the world. Such an attitude taken by the Americans would further compound terrorism, not make it any better.

BREAKING NEWS=Indian PM Manmohan Singh suggested the group behind the attacks was based outside India and probably had "external linkages."

http://edition.cnn.com/2008/WORLD/asiap ... index.html

This statement by the Indian Prime Minister may indicate that Pakistan is to blame and it may well escalate tensions between those two countres that have Nuclear Weapons.

Pakistan has its own problems to deal with in the NWFP and with the Pakistani Taliban right now. They can't afford to be intervening in India. Perhaps a Pakistan-based group, but I doubt the government had anything to do with it.

Below is the complete statement from the Indian Prime Minister

NBC News and news services

MUMBAI, India - Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh said on Thursday that the attacks in Mumbai which killed more than 100 people were probably plotted by a group based in a neighboring country.

Singh was speaking as commandos battled militants in the Taj Hotel and the Trident-Oberoi in Mumbai, where scores of people were trapped or taken hostage. Indian governments often blame neighboring Pakistan or sometimes Bangladesh for supporting or harboring militant groups which have launched attacks on Indian soil.

Singh said that would "take up strongly" the use of neighbors' territory to launch attacks on India.

"The well-planned and well-orchestrated attacks, probably with external linkages, were intended to create a sense of terror by choosing high-profile targets," Singh said in an address to the nation.

"We will take up strongly with our neighbors that the use of their territory for launching attacks on us will not be tolerated and there will be a cost if suitable measures are not taken by them," Singh said.

"It is evident that the group that carried these attacks, based outside the country, had come with single-minded determination to create havoc in the commercial capital of the country," Singh said.

Latest CNN reports say attackers arrived by boats. Whether sanctioned officially by the Pakistani government or not, almost certainly the ISI was involved.

Gunmen also remained holed up in a building called Chabad House, where several Jewish families live. Rabbi Gabriel Holtzberg, the city's envoy for the community, was being held inside with his wife, a member of the Hasidic Jewish movement said. The couple's 18-month-old baby was released unharmed.

Two women and an infant were seen escaping from the building but three to four residents remained captive inside, an Indian official said.

Police said gunmen fired indiscriminately from the building. Stray bullets killed a couple in their home and a 16-year-old boy who stepped outside, police said.

It makes sense, in a twisted way, for them to target the Jewish community, but Muslim terrorists usually don't spare babies.

I think the original reports said that the attack on the Nariman House was not planned, that the terrorists were on their way to or from (not sure) from the Taj Hotel, but who knows if it was planned.

Among the dead were at least six other foreigners from countries including Australia, Japan, Italy and Germany. --- UK news

List of dead/injured

Here is a timeline of how the terror attacks in unfolded, in the space of two hours, in local time (five-and-a-half hours ahead of UK time):[From the UK Daily Mirror

Leopold Café: 9.15pm

Five terrorists armed with AK-47 rifles barge into the cafe, which is popular with tourists, and start firing at diners and throwing grenades.

Nariman House, Colaba: 9.20pm

Two men on a scooter throw a grenade at a petrol station close to the Bootleggers pub, a nightspot popular with backpackers, damaging the facade but missing the pumps.

They then run into a business and residential complex, apparently killing two people and taking a number of hostages, thought to include a rabbi and his family.

CST Railway Station: 9.24pm

Gunmen start shooting at the ticket reservation counter of the station. A number of people are believed to have been killed and dozens wounded in this attack. The terrorists then ran out of the station.

Taj Mahal Palace Hotel: 9.30pm

Armed men walk into the hotel through the service entrance and start firing and throwing grenades. They were reportedly looking for British and American nationals and took up to 100 hostages.

A massive fire broke out at the hotel which firefighters were still battling the next morning. At least two terrorists are thought to have been killed in the hotel. Hermant Kerkare, chief of the police anti-terrorist squad was killed during the operation to retake the hotel.

Five minutes after the drama began at the Taj Mahal Palace Hotel, the same scenario was played out at another of the city’s most expensive hotels.

The next morning commandos were sent in to rescue those trapped inside. Two hotel staff, one security guard and two terrorists are thought to have been killed at the hotel.

Vile Parle: 9.55pm

A taxi is blown up in a suburb of the city further north than the rest of the attacks.

Cama Hospital: 10.15pm

Terrorists in a hijacked Skoda drew up at a hospital in the south of the city and began firing randomly outside and inside the hospital. Five people are thought to have been killed, including a police inspector, two police constables and two security men.

Metro Cinema: 10.30pm

Gunmen opened fire at two policemen near the cinema, before hijacking a police vehicle.

Wadi Bunder: 10.45pm

Another taxi was blown up and at least three people killed, including the driver of the taxi. About 15 other people are reported injured.

Girgaum: 10.50pm

Two terrorists open fire after being confronted by police. Both gunmen were killed and police discovered two rib-type boats filled with explosives.

do you fel the same way about the conquest of Canaan? Most people celebrate it, when it was a genocide (and I might add, a very effective military tactic, used also by Genghis Kahn when he was able to subdue to lawless tribal area of Pakistan

Hitler also used it as a tactic (one famous case, a town in Czechoslovakia, Lidice, a top SS commander was assassinated, and the entire town destroyed), and we don't celebrate Hitler.
