Bernie Ebbers/WorldCom presidential pardon?

#1 Postby Dionne » Fri Nov 28, 2008 7:05 am

Bernie Ebbers, the former CEO of WorldCom and the 11 billion dollar accounting fraud has not been pardoned by President Bush. Ebbers has served two years at Oakdale. He is a payroll accounting clerk at the facility.

Ebbers has tried unsuccessfully to get a pardon from outgoing President Bush. At this time Ebbers does not meet the criteria Bush set as guidelines for pardons.....which includes the minimum of 5 years in prison.

Ebbers is a friend of my wifes family. We trusted him. We invested thousands. When the stock tumbled to $9.....we purchased even more shares on his recommendation. Currently the value of my shares are at .0001 each. I have 4280 shares. As part of the 1.2 billion dollar civil law suit....I still get my quarterly statements from AE.

Yesterday, before Thanksgiving dinner a member of my family said a prayer for Bernie and his possible release. I could feel my face flush red. My hands started sweating. I felt like I was going to throw up.

No forgiveness on my behalf.

How can the prison even trust him to do their payroll finances correctly?

Isn't that like putting Typhoid Mary on the prison kitchen staff?

It's inmate pay. Small amounts. I also found it ironic that this was his position.....which I didn't discover until yesterday.

Bush has pardoned drug dealers, but not the poor sap whose rifle misfired multiple rounds on one trigger pull, or agents Ramos and Compean, I have little faith he'll do the right thing as as pardons go. I'm not sure we'll see anything as egregious as the Marc Rich pardons, but the precedent has been set, pardons granted to guilty men in exchange for political donations.

This is a disgrace. Why don't we pardon the beltway snipers while we're at it.

I guess you've never heard of a little affair called Iran Contra. Egregious pardons didn't even start there.

It will be interesting to see who President Bush pardons. President Clinton too quite some heat for his pardons. I don't think Ebbers should be pardoned, let him serve his time and then turn him over to the stock holder.....MGC

It's not as though there's much that can be done to screw up payroll accounting. ;)

Even if Bernie were to screw up the payroll he has his standard admission....."I didn't know". :cheesy:
